No Yankees in the playoffs!
I know they are still in it mathematically but according to ESPN the chances are < 0.2%. This will be the first time the evil empire has not been in the playoffs since Bill Clinton's first term. That is some run. The Curse of the Second Millennium is still going also (no NYY World Series victory in after 2000).

1. As much as I love to hate them, that's a hell of a run.
It's not like the NHL where half the league clinches a spot three games into the season. To make it that many years in a row is mighty impressive.

:applause:

8. *cough*Highest payroll last 9 years*cough*
And it finally implodes at $218,300,000.

The Brewers, A's and Twins are impressive.

The Yankees, not so much.

2. The way life should be

But I never ever count the Yankees out until the final inning. But it really doesn't look good for them this year, though.

7. Life is good!
I think I can speak for all Rays and Sox fans when I say that we share common ground on this.

$200,000,000.00+ = Yankee payroll
Seeing the Yankees watch the playoffs from home = Priceless!

5. Don't worry - McCarver will find a way to fuck up the playoffs.
He always does, whether the Yankees are in it or not.

6. If the Dodgers end up winning the World Series, then . . .
Edited on Mon Sep-15-08 05:07 PM by Jack Rabbit
. . . wherever he is, I want a TV camera there to record Steinbrenner's reaction when Joe Torre get a champagne shower in the clubhouse.

I'm a Giants' fan and it would be worth seeing the Dodgers win for a precious moment like that.

9. I think if the Red Sox win tomorrow--Saturday--the Yankees are out,
no matter what they do. I know Toronto is out if the Red Sox beat them either Saturday or Sunday.
