So, 12 days of the Paralympics, and not a single post about it on DU? |
|
A bit of a poor show, people. Let me point you at the BBC coverage. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/disability_sport/default.stmAnd the medal table (hey, the UK beat the US - again  ): http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/disability_sport/medals_table/default.stmClosing ceremony should be starting just now.

1. Well, if the mainstream media had actually covered it... |
|
...seriously, you don't find much news about it in the press.
Well, congrats to all the participants.

2. The BBC's had an hour on it each day, at 7pm in the evening |
|
I guess it's not telegenic enough for US TV.

6. I've always thought that they should cut a good third from the regular Olympics and include these... |
|
folks.
I only saw it was on yesterday with one of our runners winning a gold. It gets NO coverage.

3. How do I say this without sounding crass? |
|
uhhh I think I'd rather watch paint dry.
But with that said---good luck to the courageous participants.

7. It depends on the event. The interest level really varies by sport. Just as the regular Olympics. |

I just finished reading all the BBC coverage of this competition and I can't express how much admiration I have for the athletes invovled.
After reading several of the blogs I came away with the feeling that the UK puts a lot of effort and resources into their paralympic team. Good on you guys. And congratulations on winning all those medals.
I wish the US media would cover events like this.
Oh, and Ireland won 5 total medals. Up the Green!
