So when OU beats Texas Tech this Saturday night...
and OU beats OSU next week all hell is going to break out.

The winner of the three way tie for the Big 12 South will be determined by who is higher in the BCS rankings. Wow!!!

In the old days of the Southwest Conference if there was a tie, the team that had not gone to the Cotton Bowl most recently got to go. I don't remember what the Big 8 did. But in today's world, the BCS is more important than fairness and sportsmanship.

Yes, I'd like not to even consider any playoff and go back to the days when the Bowls were between conference champions and/or invitees.

1. WHAT IF Florida beats Alabama??
My bowl game is the Friday after Thanksgiving when the Hogs host the LSU Tigers. Actually as a real honest to God UA grad and a bonafide Arkansas fan, I know the Hogs playing in Little Rock IS NOT A HOME GAME.

Hey remember when the final polls were published before the bowl games were played? Like in 64 when Bama was declared National Champs and went on to lose their bowl game?

9. I remember that. I also remember when....
The Big Ten representative in The Rose Bowl was not allowed to repeat so if a team won the Big 10 two years in a row, the 2nd place team went to The Rose. The Pac 8 complained and said it only wanted to play The Big Ten Champion in The Rose. In the late 60's the Big 10 had about a 10 game winning streak over the Pac 8 in The Rose Bowl. This resulted in The Late, great LA Times Sportswriter, Jim Murray's comment.... "For the Pac 8 to tell the Big Ten to send it's only it's Champion to all Rose Bowl games is like Custer saying.... "Send all the Indians. Send all the Indian's."

Also, no other Big Ten team went to any other bowl game. Just the Rose Bowl... this was in the late 60's and wasn't changed until the early 70's.

And Notre Dame attended no bowl games until about 1970, as well. It was beneath them

Now they attend but can't beat anyone in a bowl game. What's their streak to... 8 straight bowl losses?

2. GOOOOO SOONERS!
Sorry had to shout it so that everyone in Texas and Oklahoma hears me.

I think when we win, we will still get screwed by the BCS. I have a sinking feeling that Texas will win out, which really stinks. They have had one loss and one close win (OSU). We've had one loss and blown the crap out of everyone else (provided that everything goes our way the next two weeks).

3. OU is in the worst position of the three.
TT has no losses so far. They are in control.
UT beat OU and has only A&M left to play. They win a two way tie breaker with OU.
OU has two tough games remaining. The only way for them to get in is to win those and hope for either A&M to beat UT (not this year) or get the higher points in the BCS for the three way tie.

But still, being an ex tea sipper, I'll be rooting for OU this Saturday. God forgive me.

4. But the only way UT gets a two-way tiebreaker with OU is if Tech loses to Baylor
in addition to losing to OU--so holding that tiebreaker over OU doesn't really improve their position. Texas needs Oklahoma to win out as much as OU needs it. As a Sooner fan, I'm not at all confident that OU will win them both, but if they do I think it is likely that they will win the three-way tiebreaker.

The nice thing for all three teams is that they control their own destiny for at least a BCS bowl--if OU and Texas both win out, whichever team doesn't go to the CCG will likely be ranked #3 in the BCS and therefore guaranteed a BCS bowl. Whatever happens, there is going to be a *very* good team stuck playing in the Cotton Bowl this year ...

5. Here in Austin, everyone is holding their respective noses...
at the prospect of having to root for Oklahoma. I have to be careful around my friends who went to L.S.U., Miss. State, etc. because I was rooting for Alabama (holding MY nose) so they can play Florida.

7. hehe--an unusual situation to say the least
The south division has come down to those teams so much over the last several years, but I can't recall another time when one actually had to root for the other :)

6. Its crazy
A team that will end up in the top 6-8 will not even be in a BCS bowl.

14. It's a good thing he's a football player..
otherwise I only see a career as a pornstar with a name like that.
:)

Sorry, as I'm sure many of you have figured, I love Sam Bradford. A great athlete, and smart as a whip in class! You can't go wrong with that!!
