How bout those Oklahoma City Thunder?!?! Bwahahahaha
Do you think they're smiling in Seattle? I know I am.

Thunder fires P.J. Carlesimo after 1-12 start

The Oklahoma City Thunder has fired coached P.J. Carlesimo, according to league sources.

Assistant coach Scott Brooks is believed to have been named the interim coach.

The Thunder is a league-worst 1-12 headed into Saturday night's game at New Orleans. Its 105-80 loss at home Friday to the Hornets was Oklahoma City's 10th straight defeat.

Carlesimo guided the Seattle SuperSonics to a franchise-worst 20-62 record last season before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City.

The Thunder has lost by an average of 14 points during its current losing streak, and front office executives became increasingly incensed with the team’s lack of effort. Oklahoma City has trailed by at least 30 points in five of the past nine games.

The Thunder’s lone win was a three-point victory on Nov. 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are third-to-last in the Western Conference with a 2-9 record.

After showing signs of defensive improvement over last season in the first six games, the Thunder allowed 100 points or more in the past seven games. The team is ranked 25th in points allowed with a 101.2-point average and 29th in the league in scoring at 88.9 points per game.

1. I have a questions for you...
and I'm not trying to be snarky at all, I swear...how bad were they in Seattle? I really don't know.
My husband and I were talking on Skype the other day and he said the Thunder were winning. When we got off the phone, we'd ended up losing by 20 points. WTF? Now, we're not huge bball fans, but come on!
Well, hopefully the thought of an OU national title will keep us warm over the winter. Here's to hoping!!

2. You know what michele? The Sonics (Thunder) were terrible
in Seattle recently.

Very bad, in fact, so OKC wasn't predicted to have the greatest year.

Here's the problem I have:

The Wizards are terrible in Washington DC. Almost as bad record-wise.

But I am animatedly opposed to established franchises like the Seattle Sonics, who were based in a major U.S. city, moving to new cities.

It would be an outrage moving the Wizards out of DC, because of its record .. just as it was an outrage screwing the fans in Seattle.

I have nothing against Oklahoma City, and I'd have been fine with it getting an expansion team. The people were very supportive of the Hornets while they played there during Katrina.

But I am still fiercely opposed to the "Thunder" being yanked out of Seattle .. especially under what I believe were sneaky backroom plans by an ownership that intended to move them to Oklahoma no matter whether the city of Seattle built the Sonics a new arena or not.

So, I'm not laughing at the people of Oklahoma. I'm enjoying seeing the Thunder ownership fail thus far. And fail miserably.

3. I completely agree with you
I always hated when a team was pulled, only to get another one a few years later.
I can't hate the management of the Thunder...they pay my salary in a strange way that I'm uncomfortable explaining on a message board.

But you're totally right and I was sort of surprised at the rabid reactions against Seattle fans in the OKC newspapers by folks in the Metro area...sometimes I wondered how much of that was a reaction against "latte-drinking elitists" by people in Oklahoma. Then again, I tend to read politics into pretty much everything in Oklahoma because I am so vehemently opposed to 90% of everything that I read in the papers there.

4. It was a sneaky move, but not as bad as this one.

6. Yea, that one has to go down as arguable the worst....in fact,
if I were President, I might have given the okay for a B-52 to strike that moving van.

5. The Wizards have actually been fairly competitive the last several years.
They missed the playoffs last years, but have made some appearances recently, since Gilbert Arenas has been around.

2000, 2002, 2005...

Not the greatest accomplishment to brag about since eight teams get in .. but my point remains:

Teams should not be moved unless there are extraordinary circumstances.

And I'm talking extraordinary with a capital "E"

Certainly not D.C. or Seattle.

8. The people may have been "supportive", but Bennett et al. were trying to poach them
and did, in fact, convince them to stay on an extra year even though the New Orleans Arena was ready to go (note that the Saints returned to NOLA the following year).

So as to them losing by 25 to the New Orleans Hornets:

:nopity: :nopity: :nopity:
