Are the San Jose Sharks best team in NHL?
19-3-1 record says they are. With a +34 goal differential, by far the best in the league. btw, their first quarter start in the 2nd best in the NHL in the last 25 years.

Anyone wanna challenge this?

1. When it's late spring and the Red Wings are hoisting another cup, you'll have your answer....

2. You make a good point
The Sharks have yet to see the Finals much less win it. But they do continue to improve themselves each year. They are not the same team as last year. Frankly, I have a lot of respect for the Wings, but I think they're just a little too old to play with SJ's young guns. And I trust you haven't forgotten San Jose's 4-2 win over Detroit on Oct. 30?

3. Right now they are
Todd McLellan is doing a great job. They not only lead the league in scoring but in SOG per game too...they're getting scoring from everywhere.

The trade for Dan Boyle was a great move too he fits in perfectly, I'm glad Campbell left now. In Boyle and Blake the Sharks have two out of the top three D men in scoring in the league.

We'll see if they can get past that second round jinx when the playoffs start, but barring injury I'm thinking Stanley Cup.

4. Dan Boyle is the shiznit
The puck acts like it's glued to his stick when he makes his moves.

Nabby was on fire tonight as the Sharks won their 7th straight. And one of their best players from last year, Torrie Mitchell, hasn't even played yet this year. But he'll be back soon...

Can't wait for the Sharks/Rangers game coming up.

5. Yes, but at the quarter point it doesn't matter.
I'm thrilled with the way the Bruins have started, but with 3/4 of a season to go there's no room to celebrate anything.

Don't forget Ottawa's history making start of 13-1-0 in 2005-06. No Cup made it to Ottawa that year.

Detroit is still the team to beat, though I think the Sharks can beat them head to head...it's just a matter of them getting that chance and not getting bumped out by someone else first.

6. Was watching Coaches Corner last night
and much of it focused on the Sharks. Don Cherry said Joe Thornton is the best all around player in the league, he doesn't think anyone can beat the Sharks this year, and then he went on to call Mike Grier a "backstabber" for that hit when he got the major and game misconduct penalty in the Blackhawk game. I agree with Cherry's first two observations but not the last one...Grier is not a dirty player.

7. I agree. Cherry is wrong about Grier.
I watched his whole college career at BU and he's a hard nosed player, but not even close to a dirty one.

11. It's a long season
they're still going to have their ups and downs. The Sharks outshot the Oilers 43-17, Roloson is the only reason they lost that game. It's just all about being ready for the playoffs.. nobody wants another second round exit this year.
