12 world titles. The only number that matters.

10. Oh please.
How many of those "world" titles were acquired when the NFL was a handful of teams, and the champion was simply the team that finished with the best record? (I.e., no playoffs or championship game.)

But if you're going to brag about titles (and tell us, just how many of those Packers games did you play in?), let's be honest.

And what difference would it make how many Packer games I played in? That's so fucking stupid and off-topic I don't even know where to start.

28. LOL
Because bragging about which team has more titles is fucking stupid. Because that's what the Sports forum is all about.

The fact is, many of the Packers' titles were won without playing in a championship game. The NFL and history itself can confirm. I have noticed, however, that many Packers fans turn into assholes when you mention this little point.

Because ultimately, unless you actually had a hand in winning a championship, it's all just a pissing contest anyway. Which pretty much describes the Sports forum.

31. Compare it to Baseball
There were championship games before the World Series started in 1903. The National League was formed in 1876, and it wasn't the first. The American League was formed in 1901 and the two leagues competed against each other on a business level, raiding players, etc. Then they agreed on the World Series championship in 1903 and the rest is history.

How many titles do the Atlanta Braves have? Would you say 3 with wins in 1914, 1957 and 1995? Or do you count the titles prior to 1903 from 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1877, 1878, 1883, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1897, and 1898?

The modern NFL is a combination of multiple leagues, different formats, defunct teams, combination teams, etc. It's only been since the advent of the Super Bowl in the merger agreement of 1966 that the league has been a single national league, and it's from there that we mark the current titles. Otherwise we'd be counting titles from different leagues, multiple champions from the same year, different rules for determining champions, playoffs, no playoffs, etc. The Super Bowl is the standardization. The games before that are important league and team history, but they unfortunately shouldn't count towards anything other than interesting stories.

Me too. But, six rings is hard to beat. Don't people say its the "W" that counts? I would love
to see our team be there next year, but Mike Singletary has his work cut out for him. Not even
sure this next Draft will help, or the trades. But, one thing is for sure, the Niners should
have a exciting season next year, either way. I am still proud of them, even though it took a while to make some changes.

Who knows who will be there next year at the end. "Any given Sunday..." anything can happen.
Let's see how they do. I can't wait!:applause:

The 49ers have not been the same since Eddie left...the Yorks have not exactly been a boon to 49er fortunes. However, I'm like you, I'm looking to the Singletary era with optimism for I know that one day the 49ers will return to their rightful place at the pinnacle of pro football.

by your team being literally savaged in this year's playoffs, a beat down of such epic proportions that you feel the need to trash the 49ers. Well, it will take much more than the words of a disgruntled Dolphin fan to put a dent in the NFL's premier franchise.

The last 49ers victory was in 2002. Can you beat that?

Mark my words, your Miami team will struggle to reach .500 this coming season...you won't have a weak schedule featuring opponents with a winning percentage of .465 to rely on.

not playoff appearance... though it's a matter of some debate whether the Dolphins showed up at all for the game with the Ravens.

I see that the last Dolphin playoff win was in 2000 and their last playoff appearance, before this year, was in 2001. How disappointing it must have been to watch your team get pummeled like school children after waiting that long to see them again in the post season.

36. Surely you know how specious this argument is
By that logic the Jets are the best. Somehow, not making it to the Super Bowl at all puts you ahead of a team that makes repeat visits and wins the vast majority of the time they do show up.

Detroit Lions - undefeated in Super Bowls! Now over 9 years since their last playoff defeat! Truly an unstoppable force in the postseason...

18. So by that logic...
... Would the Ravens also be above the Steelers and Cowboys?

If all three were in a Super Bowl division, the 49ers would have somehow missed 3 games. You can't base it on that statistic when teams have played different numbers of games. Be proud of your team, they're obviously one of the greats, but continuing to try and argue that they are the greatest above all others like this makes you look small, petty, and kinda dumb.

Staubach didn't start but relieved Craig Morton in the third quarter and led the Cowboys to two touchdowns in the last two minutes.

Disclaimer. I'm a Browns fan, not a Cowboy fan. I've simply never understood Cowboy hate, especially when there are better teams to get angry at, like the Broncos for the The Drive and The Fumble, and the Raiders for even more reasons.
