It's not the 'roids it's the MONEY!
Or whatever other performance enhancing drugs.

The ridiculous pay that everyone from Bud Selig on down is getting is causing all this cheating.

I'm sick of it and am turned off by all (especially professional) sports.

I predict that attendance at MLB games will be way down this year. Maybe they will then get the message.

1. At least this guy agrees >>
KRIEGER: Money is at root of baseball's evil

Your first reaction is this is the last thing baseball needs on the eve of spring training, its annual marketing festival devoted to rebirth and fresh starts.

Alex Rodriguez, the highest-paid player in the game, the presumptive career home run champion one day, the man who would remove the steroid stain of Barry Bonds, now spreads the stain instead.

(snip)

The unvarnished truth is baseball made more money off the steroid generation than all the cornfed generations before it.

Just ask commissioner Bud, who supervised the whole thing. His annual salary jumped from $14 million to $18 million last year, the highest of any sports commissioner.

Selig and Fehr have got to go! They have ruined the best sport ever invented.

2. Yep. They were both complicit in the steroids cheating.
And now they are acting like they knew nothing...

3. Attendence Won't Be Down
I really do not think attendence will be down next year. I think most fans will not stop going to games to protest the use of steroids. I do not think that many fans are that angry about the steroids issue.

I think you are right about the money, but I do not see how you can remedy the situation now. Many of the players will not play if they are not paid a great deal of money. In addition some of the problem with big paydays came about as a result of some team owners being willing to pay hugh amounts of money to get certain players on their teams.

4. Attendance will be down. Not because of the roiders, but the economy.
Even sitting in the cheap seats, after parkings, snacks, and drinks it costs a small fortune to go to a game.

5. It's Sad
It is sad that this is what sports has become. Middle class people either cannot afford or barely can afford to go to games because team are trying to pay players so much money. I think players should share in the benefit of owners making money, but when the cost of the game cause middle class people to barely be able to attend games that is a bad thing. It is crazy that in the NBA you can pay $40 and still end up nearly in the nose bleed section. I just think it is crazy.

6. I go to one game a year, and probably will not this year.
Actually, out of the five games I've been to, I've gotten free tickets for each of the games. My daughter got two free tickets last year for being a crossing guard at school!!
