As a trainer, and a bodybuilder, it's a big part of the game you're in. What do you really want to know? And when you ask, please specify what sort of steroids, and what sort of cycle as well as the goal.

It was prednisone, with the whole regiment. It was the worst drug I've ever been given. I actually told my wife to stay away from me while i was on it. I really did have roid-rage. Yeap. I'm sure cboy/utley will be all over this one.

15. My total experience with steroids is limited to... |
|
what I've seen with racehorses. In the past it was not illegal to give your horse steroids so it was never a secret about which horses were being treated with steroids. I saw people use two different steroids with equine athletes. One was Winstrol, which was given every 28-30 days just to increase a horses appetite. Horses that are not good doers can't get the most out of their training if they are not getting good nutrition. The other was Equipoise. That steroid would build mass like you wouldn't believe. It also made some horses crazy and unmanageable. I saw a trotter on Equipoise in the paddock one day that was out of his mind. When the catch driver got on the bike the horse kicked the driver about 5 ft off the sulky. That horse was unbelievably mean. Before his trainer started giving steroids he had been a deadhead and pretty lackluster as a racehorse. After Equipoise he was mean and fractious and still lackluster as a racehorse.

Boldenone (Equipoise) would be the appetite builder, not as much as the Winstrol. In the human world, you can't diet taking it. It's also a slow builder, and as a matter of fact because of it's low level T effects, it's more popular with women.
Maybe different in horses, though. I know Viagra was epic with greyhounds for a time. Animals v humans, differences.

22. I heard talk about Viagra with some fillies |
|
The Winstrol was given only once a month to horses. I don't know what kind of cycle human athletes use it.
It takes a minimum of 90 days of training to get a horse ready after a lay-off. Equipoise was the one they used to build muscle during training and racing but it seemed to always have the side-effects I mentioned.
I will say this though: steroids never made a plow horse into a great racehorse.

The 90 days makes sense. Steroids never made a Homer Simpson into a pro ballplayer or a Mr. Olympia, either. Genetics and ability do make a foundation.

24. I took prednisone when I had pneumonia... |
|
it's a corticosteroid, not exactly the same as the anabolics. It didn't really do much to me, other than help me while I was sick. That's my only experience, though.

25. No, but I've seen what prednisone does |
|
Also I had a professor in college who was very wary of any type of hormone, which basically most steroids are a form of. I wouldn't let my mother do HRT because her mother had breast cancer. I have no reason to think that men are somehow less prone to having dangerous health issues because of them. They have the same basic chemical structures--large complex molecules which can easily stick to the arteries and make it hard on the liver as well. Why would I feel comfortable with people taking something that raises ones risk for heart attacks, strokes, liver damage and more. We all condemn eating animals that are shot full of growth hormones and other steroids so why should anyone believe its healthy to inject the same substances directly into our bodies?
