A-Fraud comes clean... admits to taking steroids
He says he took them over a 3 year period...

"When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure, felt all the weight of the world on top of me to perform, and perform at a high level every day," Rodriguez told ESPN's Peter Gammons in an interview in Miami Beach, Fla. The complete interview will air on SportsCenter at 6 p.m. ET.

"Back then, was a different culture," Rodriguez said. "It was very loose. I was young, I was stupid, I was naïve. I wanted to prove to everyone that I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time.

"I did take a banned substance. For that, I am very sorry and deeply regretful."

1. Interesting that he was able to stand-up and be a man and admit to
making a mistake.

2. Where's the hate?
Like all the hate you've expressed for Bonds? A little sniveling from Rodriquez and you fall for it like a school child.

Remember, A-Fraud has denied on numerous occasions in the past to using performance enhancing drugs. He's only admitting it now because he got caught.

He's a liar and you're a hypocrite

3. A-Rod's a liar
And he's a jerk. But at least he didn't insult our intelligence by saying "I thought it was flaxseed oil!"
BB has been caught and STILL won't admit it. I'm almost convinced that the man is a pathological liar becuase he lies are that obvious.

4. This confession is calculated
I have no doubt that if Alex thought he could get away with it, he would have claimed he didn't know what he was doing too. You think it's just coincidental that he only admits to using while with the Rangers, not the Yankees?

6. of course not.
He's only admitting to it for reasons of PR/damage control obviously. I think he's every bit as bad as the others and judging how they recieved Jason Giambi (barf) I'm sure the Yankees fans will forgive him as long as he produces.

18. I agree...I still wanna know more about the tip-off to the drug test in 2004...
...no one believes A-Hole, A-Fraud, A-Roid...he's only confessing because he got caught...calculated and cynical...he's a shit.

7. Bonds knows he's the victim of a double standard
Barry doesn't owe anybody anything, he's been singled out... discriminated against. The different ways the steroid users are treated almost defies description, the hypocrisy is amazing

Already on ESPN, they're talking about Alex being forgiven and Gammons was just on speaking about how "emotional" A-Fraud was during the interview..heck, I thought Gammons was going to break down and cry himself.

21. I've answered that question in the past
I think the numbers speak for themselves...you don't generally suddenly hit 73 HRS after never hitting more than 50 your entire career without a little help.

Now I have a question for you...do you believe Bonds has been the victim of a double standard?

OK---now let me ask you this--- Does it disgust you that he's lying about it?

Yes or no?

Now it's your turn...do you believe Bonds has been the victim of a double standard or not?

27. Bonds Is A Victim?
He's suffering the consequences of treating lots of other people like dirt. That's not victimization. It's kharma. He was a silverspoon punk who treated others badly.

8. A-Rod's body shape didn't completely change as a result of 'roids as Bonds' did.
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 04:36 PM by Captain Hilts
And Bonds did it at an older age where the change was all the more dramatic.

12. Bonds' body built up at a time most players bodies are breaking down.
it changed the way he looked and the results of his play.

Too bad, he would have been a hall of famer without 'roids.

which separates him from the other users...who used steroids to achieve consideration for that status.

15. At Least He Took Responsibility
I have been a big supporter of Barry Bonds and I am not trying to use A-Rod to bash Barry Bonds. However, at least A-Rod took responsibility for his actions. I think you have to give him credit for at least saying the words "its my fault, no one is responsibile for this, it is my fault".

There are a number of things that A-Rod haters and Bonds supporters can pull out of the Gammons interview that can make A-Rod look bad. At times he seemed like he tried to blame others, specifically Selena Roberts, for going after him. In addition, Selena Roberts claimed that A-Rod was lying when he made the comments about things she supposedly did while researching her story. They could also ask why it is that A-Rod is claiming that his role is to be honest, but years ago he did not feel that his role was to be honest.

In conclusion, even though some at ESPN think A-Rod gave more information then they thought he would give, he could have gone a little farther and not brought up Selena Roberts. However, I think you do have to give him a little credit for at least taking responsibility or at least taking some responsibility for what he did.

He claims he was negligent and naive, acting real apologetic.. BS, if he's so sorry, why did he lie in the past about using?

A-Fraud is an admitted steroid user, but watch him now get treated better than Bonds...one can only wonder why?

30. Just more hypocrisy
demonstrated by you and several others. Using that absurd confession by A-Fraud, given only after he was caught (having lied about it in the past), as an excuse just so you can continue and employ an obvious double standard and bash Bonds.

If so, then you must agree that he is lying when he say's he hasn't used the drug?

considering so many others were using, all it did was level the playing field.

BTW, unlike what A-Fraud has done, I don't know for an absolute fact that Bonds is lying..

33. Ya see---that's what gets me about you and Cboy....
You're fucking wishy washy little dweebs who can't answer a simple question without simpleton rationalization.

So let's try it again:

1) Do you think Bonds used Steroids? You already answered yes.

2) Do you think Bonds is lying?

You won't answer that with a yes or no.... but you already told all of us that you think he used Steroids.

So if you think that, then surely you think that he is lying.

Is Barry Bonds lying about his steroid use? Yes or no.

34. Once again
I said I had a suspicion that Bonds was using..but suspicion alone is not enough to accuse a man of purposely lying. And again, even if he was using, all it did was level the playing field...meaning all HR records should stand.

That's not "simpleton rationalization" that's called logic.

Now are you going to answer my question about the double standard and Bonds? You do realize that your continued avoidance of the question is akin to answering..yes, I do believe a double standard is being employed against him.

Are you back tracking with your answer that Bonds took steroids?

Let's try it again.

Simple yes or no. Do you believe that Barry Bonds used Steroids?

Yes or no?

And don't give me the pussy answer--- "oh--- I suspect but that's all".... bullshit. You have an opinion---answer the fucking question.

28. Who wrote "very sorry and deeply regretful?"
That portion of the "confession" could not be any less heartfelt. It seems to me that Rodriguez's PR firm/attorneys wrote that portion of the statement.

A-Rod was fun to watch when he was with the Mariners, but he has been "dead to me" ever since.
