4. Oh I bet it's nice....but you know what? It kinda pisses me off that
Citigroup received $45 billion in taxpayer bailout money, as well as a government backstop for more than $300 billion in loan losses.

And yet, they'll be spending $400 Million over the next 20 years for the naming rights. x(

It doesn't seem, well.....right.

3. I can empathize
I lost the Vet and Connie Mack Stadium (one to the wrecking ball, one to the neighborhood) but I do have the Danbury Mint version of both of them in my Office/Shrine. As well as a beautiful 22X28 poster of Mike Schmidt hitting his 500th home run. Awesome. You'd love it Cboy.

5. Ah yes, Veterans Stadium.....boy did you guys cheat
when you had that place.

The Astro Turf would turn just about every Phillie single into a triple after it skipped by one of my Giants outfielders.

Wasn't Bake McBride you lead-off hitter. Really tall and lanky?

Oh by the way, that 500th homer was 262 shy of the Home Run King Barry Bonds' record.

6. Did the Giants ever get an at bat at the Vet??

I don't have to be ashamed of Mike's 548!

7. One of my announcers at the time (Al Michaels), constantly used
to insinuate the Phillies knew exactly where the fastest sections of the outfield were to hit to .. AND in fact, actually even watered down the Astro Turf in places. :wow:

I definitely believe that!

8. Knowing the advantages and disadvantages

of one's home field. Well I bet no other team in any sport ever thought of that; like an Arctic Wind blowing off the ocean. And no doubt they used the super duper water that only benefited Phillies batters.

9. The Phillies used to wet the field when opposing teams
like S.F. played defense and then between innings, they'd open the drain holes and allow the water to trickle out.

That's what I always heard my announcers say on KNBR, 680 .. (home of the San Francisco Giants and Major League Baseball HR King. :bounce:)

I'm surprised you don't know about the water on the Astro Turf / "Drain Games."

Unless of course, you're in denial and don't want to acknowledge it.

My policy is fessing up.

10. I watched The Vet implosion from my roof.
It was cool. And we had a nice party. We did lose a lot of home field advantage though. Opposing teams hated playing there.
