It's not looking good Upton.
I still have hope, but those bastard Red Wings are a fucking thorn in our side

WINGS DENY SHARKS

DETROIT (AP)—Henrik Zetterberg showed why the Detroit Red Wings want him to end his career with them.

Zetterberg scored a spectacular goal and a crafty one, lifting Detroit to a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.

“We’ve grown accustom to watching him play like that,” Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said.

The 28-year-old forward signed a 12-year deal last month worth $73 million, keeping him off the free-agent market this summer.

“He’s a superstar,” Detroit general manager Ken Holland said. “We’re lucky to have him.”

The Red Wings dominated the final regular-season matchup, and possible Western Conference finals preview.

But the defending Stanley Cup champions insist they’re not the team to beat.

2. You mean that I'm talking to my fellow SJ Sharks bud about our
team?

Yes I sure am Mr. Barry Bonds hate monger.

It's a shame Forkboy .. who is arguably the most avid NHL fan in the forum, and previously a fun guy to talk with, had to intentionally ruin any possibility of joining in the hockey conversation, because he decided the need to falsely and shamelessly accuse me of calling people racists.

Fuck that noise. Ha forkboy. :puke:

3. It's really all about the playoffs
I don't like losing to the Red Wings but like the Sharks Detroit is tough at home. They finish the season series 2-2....and since the teams are going to be seeded 1 and 2, barring an upset they won't meet until the conference finals. The Sharks have only gotten that far once before, I'll take that and see what happens.

5. Well this game was better than the 6-0 shellacking in Detroit,
but I'm still nervous.

They'll need to rise to a different level in the playoffs, which I don't doubt they can do .. especially at home.

4. "Lady Upton"
(1864-1907) was a famous race horse. Also known as "Kitty" to area children, she made over $100,000 in her lifetime.

7. We outshot them

more than 2 to 1 (48-21)..controlled the last 2 periods of the game, only their goaltender and a couple crossbars saved them. It was an excellent performance by the Sharks..except for the final score.

If Nabokov had started, might have been a different story..Boucher looked bad in the 1st period. The game was on Hockey Night in Canada too..so, despite the loss, the Sharks showed any remaining doubters in the country of Canada that they're for real.

Edit: Hey I forgot to mention, Nashville beat the Red Wings tonight 8-0..that's eight to nothing. So the Sharks didn't lose anything off their lead in the West.

8. Alright, well they're still going to have to do more to prove
to me they can win on the road.

Because I'm always nervous when they leave the Tank.

And that's just crazy about Detroit.

10. I looked it up
Best road records in The NHL

Boston-21-8-4

NJ-19-9-2

Detroit-17-10-5

Sharks-16-8-6

You can see the Sharks are right there among the best...I have been getting a bit concerned about their lack of scoring recently but it's the dog days of the NHL season so maybe that's an excuse....with the trade deadline looming it will be interesting to see if Wilson makes any moves.
