Prayers/Good Vibes Requested For A Little Boy In My School Who May Not Make It Through The Night |
|
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 09:37 PM by Dinger
There is a little third grade boy in my school who has experienced headaches this past week. I don't have him as a student, but I have some of his classmates in my reading class. He's a little Native American boy, and is such a sweet little soul. I just got a call that he has an inoperable brain tumor and they do not know if he will make it through the night. Please pray for him and his family. He's a sweet little boy. His name is "Dante." I hope a miracle can happen. I praying for one. I can't imagine what this must be like for him and his family, especially now. I am devastated. I will be at school Monday, but not Tuesday because my dad is having surgery. I don't know if I can handle this, but I will try.

dad is having hip replacement surgery, so it looks o.k., but he's scared, and the timing of it isn't very good. He feels bad about it, but I told him we'll all be there, and he definitely won't be alone on Christmas. But still, there is always a risk with surgery, so I really appreciate the prayers. Can't get Dante and his family out of my mind. Kind of a little side note that me and Mr. Dinger's 29th anniversary is tomorrow. We're just planning on spending a quiet day at home, which sounds good to me. I will give an update when I get one on Dante.

6. My God, how horribly sad |
|
We lost a former student to cancer early this year; he was 14 or 15, and have lost a couple more of about the same age in the last few years. And I will certainly say a prayer tonight for Dante's eternal soul to pass smoothly to a place of eternal peace and light if the miracle does not take place.

21. Thinking of Dante & his family |
|
in this difficult time. And for you as you help his friends through this tragedy.
My daughter lost her best friend at five because of a brain tumor. The children left behind are bewildered and angry and sad and afraid wondering why the adults in their lives didn't "fix it". Eight year olds, of course, are a little less naive - which in a way is worse. They are on the threshold where cynicism starts to really develop.

A girl at my school had a brain hemorrhage this week and is in a coma.
These tragedies are never easy for anyone and especially hard on children.
Sending best vibes!

"Dante" is still alive. He is paralyzed from the neck down. He is on a ventilator. Me and several teachers were going to go to the hospital, but he is a "privacy patient." Apparently the family is getting a lot of calls, and would like some privacy. I expressed my support and that of my peers. I have no idea how I will try and have a Christmas party tomorrow in a room right next to this boy's room. I'd love any ideas you have. For now, it is wait and see, pray, hope, and be supportive.

26. Well I am sure you know it will be good for your kids to make cards for him. |
|
Or you could make a big get well card with some of that long roll paper. (I know we always have way too much of that around our school)
Last year our counselor was in the hospital and the kindergarteners made her a long banner and it was really awesome. She just loved it.
