Superintendent Paul Dugan said Wednesday that reports of two rape attacks against an autistic student at Sparks Middle School in 2007 were actually just one incident of sexual assault.

"In my talking with the principal (Andrew Yoxsimer) and the counselor (Susan Nunes), when the boy first came to the counselor on this first incident, there was no indication of any sexual, reportable type of incident shared with the counselor or with the teacher (Nancy Bedrow) and so there was nothing for them to report," Dugan said.

I also have a kid on the spectrum and know how hard it is for him to talk to people. If indeed the assault happened, if he's anything like my kid, he's probably mortified to talk about it, making it harder to ascertain facts at all.

they're just claiming that he didn't say he was raped the first time. Though why didn't they investigate the first complaint of harassment anyway? I kinda doubt he left that part out - but since he's autistic maybe there was a communication issue with the adults. Why they didn't pursue . . . ????

if they hadn't investigated, there wouldn't be a *public record* which was used to construct this story.

There's a difference between a true held belief and just being obnoxious, ornery, and completely close-minded without ever - once - really listening to any type of dissent, ya know? Or those types that just really like to be in-your-face-rude. Not saying that these things apply to that particular individual, but my list - though short - do usually seem to have a few things in common.

Wasting my breath talking to people who absolutely refuse to even consider, the possibility that maybe - just MAYBE - other people's ideas have some degree of merit? Well, life's just too short.

Am I missing something here? Is it just because *I* posted the story? I mean, really, it's a true story - read the link. Special needs kids need special teachers.

Perhaps there's no interest in this story because there's no way of telling what actually happened from the information given in the article, even though you *pretend* to know, & blame what you *believe* to have happened on the lack of a "special teacher", something you also have no way of knowing.

I've never seen you do anything here but post negative stories about public schools & charter school propaganda.

Were you there? Do you personally know the "victim" or his "attacker"? Just because a lawyer files a lawsuit and it's reported in the media doesn't mean it's true.

The lawsuit has been filed, it is in federal court, where it may take 2 to 5 years to resolve, and at least one person named in the case will not cooperate with a crooked, asshole district.
