what happened to this poor student, raped by charter school teacher?
NECN) - A pastor who is a music teacher at a Worcester charter school has been charged with raping a 15-year-old boy.

Tyrone Forbes was arrested early Thursday after he and the boy were spotted in Forbes' pickup truck in a parking lot.

The 49-year-old is a pastor at Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ and teaches music at the Seven Hills Charter School.

Police believe Forbes and the teen have had a sexual relationship since November.

Forbes is charged with seven counts of rape of a child.

He has pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday and was being held on five thousand dollars cash bail.

HOMESTEAD, Pa. -- A Sewickley woman identified in court papers as an employee of the Propel Charter School in Homestead is facing charges after police say she invited students to her home and made advances. Cassandra Sproch, 42, was arrested by Allegheny County Police on charges of indecent assault, corruption and unlawful contact with minors, endangering the welfare of a child and furnishing alcohol to minors. WORCESTER - A local charter school teacher was arrested yesterday morning on charges of indecent assault and battery, allegedly involving three former students.

Kyle Soule, 32, of 76 Myrtle Ave., Webster, a fifth-grade teacher at Seven Hills Charter Public School, was arraigned in Worcester Central District Court yesterday on three charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

According to police, the charges stem from assaults of three girls, starting in 2002, when Mr. Soule was a teacher at Abby Kelley ...

Two charter school teachers accused of assaulting students... (but no criminal charges?)
Submitted by modernesquire on Fri, 11/16/2007 - 10:19am.
From today's Columbus Dispatch:

The school is run by a for-profit company called Mosaica Education Inc. Mosaica officials refused to release Bryan's personnel file and records of any investigation conducted by the school, which are public records in Ohio.

11. So... despite the title, your post ISN'T about what happened to the student...
...you really just want to throw mud at charter schools?

Why didn't you just say so? :)

OTOH... are you under the impression that you couldn't find hundreds of similar examples in church schools and/or public schools?

15. Can you give an example?
I've seen "horror stories" of poor educational performance in local public schools, but it would be ridiculous to claim that you should send your kids to a charter school because the public schools are filled with sex predators.

One "horror story" is appropriate (though arguable whether or not it's true), the other makes no sense... as with this thread.

I'm quite certain that anyone with an internet connection can come up with ten sexual abuse stories from public schools for every one for a charter school... but that would say nothing about public schools in general.

I am no fan of or advocate for charter schools. That you would jump to that conclusion speaks volumes.

The simple fact is that your post has no relevance to the issue you wish to debate. Pointing that out to you is NOT taking the other side of the public/charter argument.

If I post a story (out of the hundreds we've both seen) of a public school teacher abusing a kid... will you then expect people to pull their support for public schools?

You claimed that this was similar to horror stories that charter school advocates post to scare people away from public schools. Can you or can you not cite an example of this?

19. 30 years of this crap. i don't give a damn about being fair on this issue.
for 30 years, a well-organized, well-funded contingent has spread a net of bullshit so wide it's now come to be received wisdom. was it "fair"? no. did it work? yes.

i'll post every rape, murder, assault story i can find, & they can suck up their own medicine.

I just love the "he hit me first" stream of logic.

Hopefully, you don't let your students get away with it. :)

than you've spent filibustering.

And yes... it's obvious to all that you don't care about the perception of your honesty.

Which, of course, does no service to any cause to promote. A shame really.

30. No doubt.
But that can't be a good thing for you.

There are plenty of REAL reasons to be concerned about charter schools. Why do you feel that you need to make up false ones??? It just damages your case. If people applied the same standard to public schools they would similarly fail the test. If they correctly recognize it as a false standard, then they ignore anything else you might have to say on the issue because you have lost credibility.

I know... I knows...you don't care. That much is obvious... And a shame.

Whenever you hear people demand deregulation, take a moment to ponder what they wanna do with the increased freedom.

And I can't believe that a frickin' pastor of all people is the suspect of the rape! Was he Catholic?

33. I looked up the case in the OP
1. The boy was not a student at a charter school.
2. The boy and teacher knew each other through church activities where the guy was a pastor (sound familiar?)
3. Within months of the allegations, the teacher involved was in jail serving time for the offense.
4. The guy involved will not be eligible to teach at any type of school after this (private or public).

That was pretty easy to find online. Case went through the system fairly quickly.

It wasn't.

It was an attempt to tar all charter schools with the illegal actions (even those not associated with school at all) of a few.
