LEETSDALE — A former Allegheny County charter school teacher accused of plying students with wine at her home before fondling and offering sex to two of them was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on molestation charges.

Cassandra L. Sproch, 42, of 1433 Beaver Road, Osborne, was fired from her job as a part-time dance instructor at Propel Charter School in Homestead after charges were filed last month.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Allegheny County police, three students — two males and one female — visited Sproch’s home on Nov. 15. Sproch gave the male students wine and got drunk herself, the complaint said.

Later, she put her hand on the crotch of a 15-year-old boy, kissed him and offered him sex, according to the complaint. She also took a 16-year-old boy into her bedroom and held him against a wall with her arms and body while attempting to kiss him, the complaint said.

During a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Leetsdale District Judge Robert L. Ford, Sproch’s 14-year-old son testified that he was at his mother’s home on Nov. 15 and heard her tell one of the boys: “It’s like Vegas. Whatever happens here stays here.”

3. Sad Story. When Schools Are Not Held To The Same Standards

as other schools, it opens up a door for pigs like this teacher. Let's hope the teacher is held accountable and the students receive the counseling they need, so that this cycle of abuse does not repeat itself.

This article doesn't reference any prior offenses, and once she was reported, she was fired and dealt with by the legal system. Here's a similar story from a traditional public school:

Todd Woods, 42, a teacher at Peck Elementary School in Warren, Michigan who was under investigation on allegations that he molested a 6-year-old girl is missing after leaving a note for his wife. A note that seemed to indicate he was going to harm himself. Woods disappeared on Tuesday, a day after he was suspended from his job at Peck Elementary School.

When people falsely attribute such things to the fact that this particular incident happened at a charter school, they lose credibility. Being disengenous is not a credible way of debating. I mentioned that in another post, that people in the education forum often demonstrate poor logic. In this case, the logical fallacy used is the Fallacy of False Cause or Non Sequitur - incorrectly assumes one thing is the cause of another. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy

5. Seems to me *you're* the one with poor logic & credibility. First, show me where

in this thread *anyone* has "falsely attribute such things to the fact that this particular incident happened at a charter school".

I cut & pasted the OP from a reputable source *without comment*.

The only other poster to respond said "when schools aren't held to the same standards as other schools." That isn't a comment about charters in general, but about standards.

Since there was no comment beyond posting the story, there was no "debate," let alone "disingenuous" debate. Nor was there any "argument" to be evaluated for logical fallacies.

You're the only one who's attempted to make an argument -- but it was illogical.

You assumed what you should have first proven, i.e. (I assume): that the post was intended to demonstrate the charter school setting in some way *caused* the incident, or that the incident couldn't occur in a public school.

This logical fallacy is called "Circular Reasoning".

I notice lots of charter school advocates commit this error.

And now, like yourself, I've committed the logical fallacy "Argumentum ad hominem".

Unlike yourself, however, I didn't have to look it up & cut & paste.

PS: The *part-time* dance "teacher" in question was on five years probation for a 2008 fraud charge. A background check would have caught that.
