"This is definitely not about trying to replace the Detroit Public
Schools........It's about trying to replicate what works." Well, it certainly doesn't look that way to me!! After reading this fascinating piece of work, this is the only logical conclusion. We may not be contenders in the RTTT federal money but as you can see, we don't need it!!

1. "Replicate what works"?
Do they mean they are going to kick out troubled children?

A charter school is like a hospital for healthy people. Lets replicate what works, don't let sick people into the hospital.

2. I don't get it, either. It's a proven fact and has been widely
publicized that public schools consistently out perform the charters. I also think the reasons for this include the professional standards and credentials required by the public school system versus the not so stringent requirements of those teaching in charter schools.

Your analogy brings up a good point and I can't wait to see what their solution is going to be to deal with the same behavior problems and daily disruptions that we've had to deal with over the years. A student can be kicked out if there's a viable alternative. So, I guess there will be a surge in alternative schools in the coming years.
