1. How many teachers can attend this?
It apparently begins on a Friday, when we're teaching.
It's in DC, pretty damn far away for most of us and who can afford to go?

It needs to be a coordinated effort around the entire country, not just in DC. Widely publicized, local level.

6. No reason we can't do that
I have already sent out the info to teachers I know. If we ask NEA and AFT to organize this, it can indeed be done.

8. Yes

"Disturbed is a light word for what this "race" approach and the blame game being waged over the need for school reform brings me to. I have communicated with NEA President Van Roekel on several actions taken by the administration and the Department of Education. Although I believe that both Duncan and President Obama want good things for schools and school employees, on the facts of the implementation I think they have jumped to hasty and not well researched conclusions.

____ members, and ____ itself will continue to speak up for what we know are sound, collaborative, sustainable reforms that put educators at the table in designing and implementing what works community by community. Guaranteeing equal opportunity to great schools for every child is not the result of educators racing to compete with each other or climbing over their peers to gather in one-time dollars. It is a journey that we must continue in search of stable and sustainable school funding, regardless of the size or the property wealth of a community."

Education may need change, but it must be responsible change."

This is a reply I got in a private e-mail, so I would like to keep it private. I do, however, like the response.

5. I got it from AFT Peace and Justice caucus email list
I think the guy who is organizing it is the one who put his phone number at the bottom of the email.
