Public flogging of teachers continues

I blame my mechanic — the fact that I don't change my oil often enough, don't check my tire pressure regularly, and don't know my carburetor from my glove compartment.

I'm sure you will agree with me that my mechanic is solely to blame for any malfunction of my car. It can't be that I invest too little in it, or that I take only passing interest in its interests — that is, until it doesn't motor me to every chosen destination.

We need new accountability standards for mechanics. Assemble the lawmakers.

I'm serious here. Just about as serious as some policy makers are about education.

Those policy makers, and the citizens for whom they posture, blame teachers for all the ills of the schooling machine.

1. Blaming teachers is just the excuse to divert money..
.. to corrupt officials and profiteers.

It has nothing to do with real education.

6. If 50% of cars never left the mechanic shop
I'd say that's a mechanic that needs to go out of business.

7. That's after all cars are required to come into the shop, including those
totaled in wrecks, burned in fires, and crushed by demo folks, right?

Cannot refuse anyone's car, regardless of condition, age, former or current abuse, runnable condition, all cars in fact are required by law to come to the shop.

Now let's see what kind of mechanics we have.

8. Republicans want the education dollars for themselves. Florida republicans
voted to end education in our state in the dead of night. They did not want too much media attention. Jeb Bush wants it all, and now the only thing that is standing in his way is Charlie Crist. We are doomed.

9. We need to pay cops based on the crime rate
And firefighters based on the number of fires.

Makes just as much sense.
