Boston College "Compromise" refuses to ban anti-gay discrimination

Boston College Reaches Compromise On Gay Student Demands

(Boston, Massachusetts) Boston College has agreed to revise its nondiscrimination policy to be more welcoming of LGBT students but the Jesuit college has refused to go all the way and say discrimination against gay students will not be tolerated.

The compromise was reached this week in a meeting between the college's general counsel and student leaders.

Last month students and faculty at the school staged a one-day strike to support gay and lesbians on the campus of the Catholic college. (story)

Nearly a thousand people gathered in the center of campus for a rally, many of the students wearing T-shirts that read, "Gay? Fine By Me.''
