Hate has its day...
All 5 LGBT bills die in Utah

(Salt Lake City, Utah) A bill that would have offered unmarried couples - straight or gay - inheritance rights and the power to make medical decisions when the other partner is incapacitated, Wednesday in the legislature.

It was the fifth defeat for a group of bills called the Common Ground Initiative that would have expanded LGBT civil rights in Utah.

Tuesday, legislation to include gays in job and housing protections was defeated and bills to allow for joint support and the creation of a domestic partner registry also failed to gain traction.

A fifth bill which would have allowed same-sex couples to sue for wrongful death damages was defeated in a state Senate committee last month.

1. It was inevitable.
As long as the state-church line is blurred in Utah, the GLBT community will be an actively persecuted minority there.

5. My point exactly.

In the aftermath of Prop H8, many in Utah claimed that it wasn't about rights, (visitation, inheritance, etc.) but really about the word "marriage." So, rights groups in Utah pushed these bills to see if they would put their money where their mouths are and actually act to prove that. Because all five of these bills were defeated, it proves that it isn't just about the word, but in reality, it is about hate.

4. Five bills *die* in Utah? That makes sense considering I've
always said I would *die* if I had to live there.

BTW, if you've never been to beautiful Salt Lake City and think you'll make a trip some day, I wonder if you'll be as shocked as I was at the number of homos who call the place home!!11!

9. Proving yet again
That those who claim they don't oppose rights other than marriage for LGBT citizens are blatant liars.

10. Proving yet again that some parts of the world are not ready for democracy
and prefer theocracy.
