Maryland Domestic Partner Bill May Be Revived

Maryland Democrats are considering a vote to override Gov. Robert Ehrlich's veto of two gay rights bills when the legislature reconvenes in January.

The possibility of an override arose after a Conservative group announced on Tuesday that it was ending its push for a referendum to block such a move and to overturn other LGBT civil rights legislation

The group had begun collecting signatures to put the issue of gay rights on the ballot. But, Donald Dwyer (R-Anne Arundel) informed the secretary of state Tuesday that he is calling off his drive "in light of the governor's recent veto."
