What are Richard DeVos' views on gays?
Does anyone in here know? I know he's a puke, and the head of a giant scam company, but.... what will he do to us?

1. He's very buddy-buddy with...
... Pat Robertson. Tell you anything?

2. some, but
I'd like to know if he's planning anything. I can totally see this guy criminalizing.... something... about us. What, I have no idea.

I am on the edge. Seriously. I'm considering getting a concealed carry permit. These people are THAT big of a threat to us.

3. If he's planning anything...
... you can bet it will be in coded language to his W. Mich. base. Otherwise, he's not going to say very much that would ruin his chances. M'self, I think DeVos, Jr., will be strong in Christian Reformed land--the GR-Holland 196 strip. But, outside of that area, the voters will probably think of him the same way they think of Amway. :)

DeVos, Sr., is very tight with a wide swath of the religious right--all the people who go to CNP meetings regularly--unless the current governor screws up, or the auto industry goes in the tank, and the voters start wondering if maybe Milliken and Engler weren't so bad, after all. Engler and DeVos, Sr., were pretty tight, so it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Engler out campaigning for Dick, Jr.

Engler's big religious push was for state funding through vouchers for religious schools. I suspect that will be one of Dick, Jr.'s, campaign planks, too.

Don't expect him to do a Fred Phelps. He's too slick for that.

Cheers.

4. Here is a tidbit of insight
on what to expect from DeVos, from a GLADD website.

<snip>
By October, the group Citizens for the Protection of Marriage had raised more than $1 million to push the proposal. Of that, the Roman Catholic church of Michigan contributed $480,000 and the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council $130,000.

The DeVos family, the right-wing Amway millionaires who rule state Republican politics, kicked in about a tenth themselves. Richard DeVos, husband of Michigan Republican Chair Betsy DeVos, put up $20,000 and Doug and Maria DeVos $30,000. Elsa Prince Broekhuizen of Holland, a relative, contributed $75,000.
