Police Take Man's License Because He's Gay

Police in Sicily, who stopped a driver in a routine road check, seized his license after discovering he is gay.

During the spot check police discovered that man, identified only as Danilo G. had been exempted from military service because of his sexuality.

His license was suspended and police began an investigation on his "suitability" to take the wheel.

It's unfortunate but some corners of the world just don't know how to react to anything outside their realm of experience. The light is extra harsh when it gets shined on them - but ignorance aside, rural Italy by and large is more accepting of "bachelors" and "spinsters" than many rural parts of the U.S.
