Queen's List Honors Cardinal Who Refused Gays Communion

Cardinal George Pell has received Australia's highest award in the Queen's Birthday 2005 Honors List.

Pell is one of the Catholic Church's most conservative leaders and has a long history of battling with gays in Australia. He was named a Companion of the Order of Australia. The honors list is compiled by the government and was released on the weekend to mark the Queen's birthday on the weekend.

The Archbishop of Sydney, Pell was made a cardinal last year. (story)

2. remember that Aussie PM Howard is a conservative
and I'm sure this was done with his okay more than Blair's
