Canadian House Set To Pass Gay Marriage Today
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/06/062805canada.htm

Canada's House of Commons is expected to pass legislation late tonight allowing same-sex couples to marry in those regions of the country where courts have not already ruled it legal.

In a session that extended into the early hours of Tuesday the gay marriage legislation survived a second vote in the House with 154 MPs voting for and 124 voting against, including 24 Liberals and New Democratic Party member Bev Desjarlais, who could be suspended from her party's caucus for not following the party's line of supporting the measure.

Just an hour earlier, a government motion supported by the New Democrats and the Bloc Quebecois was passed to limit debate to another eight hours, culminating with a final vote tonight.

to see at least one nation in North America moving in the right direction when it comes to human rights...

Go Canada!
Vive La Canada!

2. I posted something on this earlier
It will be a permanent nationwide (except maybe Alberta) reality tomorrow morning.

4. Hey Justinsb, is Alberta REALLY that conservative?
or is it an illusion with the politicians making the bulk of the noise? It always seemed to me to be at best a 50/50 split.

5. I dunno
I don't live in Alberta, they keep electing very conservative people but as to the proportion of the province that is very conservative, I'm not sure.

3. It was quite funny
how the Liberals owned the Conservatives with this bill.

Go here --

In the upper right, "watch cpac now", click "English" for windows media video.

The audio portion you get will be in English when the language being spoken in the House is English, and the interpreter's voice when the language being spoken is French.

CPAC's server upgraded its capacity a lot back when demand was high during the Gomery inquiry,

so there shouldn't be any trouble getting in. I'm watching now ... some fool going on about "spiritual values" ... with an unfortunate echo in the video ...

edit ... forgive the stupidity ... the unfortunate echo was because my computer had opened realplayer at the same time, and I was getting a duplicate soundtrack. ;)
