Spokane Mayor James E. West's tough stand on what he called "moral issues" are now coming back to haunt him - and it doesn't only involve gay chat sessions where he offered jobs to young men in return for "favors".

Journalists have been pouring over his record both as mayor and as a GOP member of the state Senate.

West's current position - that he will not resign from office despite the sex scandal - is opposite to one he took in 1995 when then Gov. Mike Lowry was involved in his own scandal over sex.
