Allies’ stance cited in US gays-in-military debate

(New York) When it comes to dealing with gay personnel in the ranks, the contrasts are stark among some of the world’s proudest, toughest militaries - and these differing approaches are invoked by both sides as Americans renew debate over the Pentagon’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

In the United States, more than 12,000 service members have been dismissed since 1994 because it became known they were gay. Current targets for discharge include a West Point graduate and Iraq war veteran, Army National Guard Lt. Dan Choi.

In Britain, on the other hand, uniformed gay and lesbian service members marched in the annual Pride London parade July 4. Gay Australian soldiers and sailors had their own float in Sydney’s Gay Mardi Gras parade. In Israel, the army magazine earlier this year featured two male soldiers on the cover, hugging one another.

1. My opinion is screw the 'sceptics' they are phobes or just ignernt
and will never change. Personal experience with phobes is they have something to hide, and they are usually either physically or personality wise so unattractive that I would never be confuse em with someone I would want to fool around with.

2. It's funny conservatives fight back with opinions
When presented with facts. Every single counterargument in that article was a baseless assertion.

The best one: gay bashing will increase! Really? What if the gays bash back? I love a good fight - in fact I'd break the fuckers legs off in their own ass for trying.

Alpha gays are not to be trifled with. We're better at literally EVERYTHING, and that includes kicking ass. God damn I'm so sick of these homophobes spouting their shit, and they always seem to want to do it from the safety of their armchair.

Stop the veiled threats people, and just fucking bring it, or else shut the fuck up.

Homophobes in the American military are not afraid that we're weaker than they are, and that is exactly the problem. They really are scared of us, enough to shoot us in the back, beat us over the head when we're not looking and frag us, but then again the people that are doing that shit are going to do it to someone sooner or later anyway. They're determined to murder someone, and any reason at all will do. Gay is just convenient this year.
