The cast of Hair to attend October’s march on Washington
(Los Angeles) The stars of the hit Broadway show “Hair” have announced they will be canceling their Oct. 11 performance to attend the National Equality March in Washington, D.C.
The cast made the announcement at a rally in Los Angeles where they were joined by LGBT activist Cleve Jones, the march’s organizer, Academy Award winning screen writer Dustin Lance Black, and other equality activists. The cast was in California to tape an episode of “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.”
“Hair has never been just a show; its message of change and hope and inclusion is one we try to live, not just preach,” Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater and producer of Hair said in a recent statement. “This is the moment when we need to recognize the right of all citizens, gay and straight, to have their love and their unions acknowledged by the state. We are proud to join with Cleve Jones and the National Equality March in support of gay marriage.”
