Question about gender discrimination |
|
Are there states still where a man would be allowed to enter into a contractual relationship with someone, but a woman wouldn't? A state where discrimination based on pure sexism is legal?
I'm playing at looking at gay rights as a sex discrimination issue, rather than framing it as "gay rights". If a man can enter into a business contract with Jane Doe, can I as a woman be prohibited from entering into an identical business contract with her?

1. modelling may be a legitimate case |
|
For instance, if a person of a particular gender is to be hired to pose as a model for photographs or similar, they may need to be a particular physical gender or convincingly look the part.
I suspect that sort of discrimination is legal nationwide.

2. That's slightly different |
|
That's a matter of one party (the employer) being allowed the right to refuse entering into a contractual agreement. But it an example of a private party being allowed to discriminate based on sex.
What about two parties that both want to enter into a contractual arrangement, but the government prohibits it, based on sex discrimination?

3. contractual I can't think of |
|
Mixed gender usage of restrooms is the main one I can think of outside gay marriage, but it's not contractual.
