Phoenix Diocese bans politicians who support abortion, gay rights
Politicians who support issues like abortion and gay rights have been banned from speaking at Catholic churches in the Phoenix Diocese.

So far, Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano has been the only one affected by the edict from Phoenix Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted.

Napolitano was forbidden to speak last year at a Catholic church in Scottsdale at an event opposing Proposition 200, a ballot measure that restricted the rights of undocumented immigrants. The event was moved to another site.

In a letter to pastors in December, Olmsted said churches may not invite to speak any politician or other public figure who disagrees with basic church teachings on abortion, gay marriage or other issues.

2. I was a Catholic until the 04' election.
I want nothing to do with those PIGS! All the Bishops/Cardinals came out for the murderer Bush. DAS Catholic Church is nothing more than a crime ring for sexual deviants.

4. Wow.
That's a pretty intense statement.

Not that I necessarily disagree with it...but...wow.

5. The Catholic Church MOLESTED children!
Then they turn around and have the nerve to tell us how to vote based upon 'sexual morality' and 'abortion'. :wtf:?

I don't want to hear from a bunch of men in dresses who RAPE children!

The Vatican Bank has some interesting history with La Cosa Nostra too.

7. Oh, yeah...
I had a long discussion with a friend who tried to explain the politics behind their cover-up of the sexual abuse scandal, but I asked him straight out--did he really think this hasn't been going on for centuries?

He had no answer to that.

6. Morals Clause
Few years ago, we had a major uproar over a catholic high school firing two teachers for "violations of their Catholic morals" clause.

So, what did they violate? One teacher got a DIVORCE and the other teacher got a VASECTOMY, i.e, birth control (wonder how they found that one out).

The students walked and the parents walked with their checkbooks. It made all the local papers and was, I guess, very bad PR for the school. As one of the parents was quoted as saying, "If they decided to uphold these "moral standards" for the PARENTS, there would be no students at this school."

It makes you wonder, doesn't it? First the politicians, and then on to the parishioners? "Excuse me, Mrs. Donnelly?" "How long have you been married and you have NO CHILDREN (or ONE, or TWO)?"

8. Must breed
more little catholics! Well, what are you waiting for? Go breed already!

I honestly think that's their major bitch against birth control. They don't want their people doing it because it isn't increasing the number of future catholics.
