Just in case you are unaware yet how evil Rick Warren is
Pastor Rick Warren Responds to Proposed Antigay Ugandan Legislation
Newsweek blogs

http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thehumancondition/archive/2009/11/29/pastor-rick-warren-responds-to-proposed-ugandan-legislation.aspx

But Warren won't go so far as to condemn the legislation itself. A request for a broader reaction to the proposed Ugandan antihomosexual laws generated this response: "The fundamental dignity of every person, our right to be free, and the freedom to make moral choices are gifts endowed by God, our creator. However, it is not my personal calling as a pastor in America to comment or interfere in the political process of other nations."

2. christ does not love all
The bible is not a 'moral' book. Jesus says some very evil things about people he does not like.
Simply not believing in him is a ticket to hell, the trash heap.

13. Satanists
and christians I think are worshipping the same two faced god. I don't bow down,I don't do "worship".

There is what I know, and understand, and there is the stuff I don't... yet. I call that the unknown. I explore it,not worship it.I seek Gnosis.

5. Christ died for all, & we can agree to disagree, but I wanted to state my belief also, as you did.
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 03:56 PM by Divine Discontent
the grave is an impossible potion to cheat for any of us, but death's eternal power has already passed in Christ being sacrificed. I directly defend your right to state the exact words you have stated, nonetheless and always will.

A person's belief does not mean the 'quality' of person they are, it states what they believe in regards to a higher power, and we each cannot judge each other as some do on each side of the issue. I, for one, am glad for my salvation in Christ, and I am grateful for the majestic heavens that have been created for us to see.

And speaking of the hateful man that is Rick Warren - it reminds me of being persecuted no matter where I go, as a GLBT member of society, and makes me so glad that we have people on DU who are good supporters of GLBT rights, and who did this great silent thread --- http://journals.democraticunderground.com/themartyred/60

10. Actually, he just died.
Some guy named Joshua, a couple of thousand years ago, died, and other people founded a religion based on the myths they attached to him. It is living humans who perpetrate discriminatory laws. It has nothing to do with Jesus.

Religion is the worst offender on the planet, in terms of discrimination against people.

11. So what about BEFORE Christ's sacrifice?
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 04:07 PM by DontTreadOnMe
Let's take a step back in the history on mankind, like say to the year 100 BC.

Was God (the Christian one) just behind schedule on the sacrifice?

I have always recognized that religion is one of man's greatest accomplishments, but I also recognize that there is no one religion that speaks for everyone. Therefore, there are good aspects of many different religions that help us define the many aspects of morality.

But I also recognize a snake-oil salesman who hides behind religion for political gain.

TAX THE CHURCHES. Stop using MY tax money to support religion. My God is not short on cash.

shut 'em up!

9. Warren's a creep. But Christianity supports such creeps.
They can pull out Bible verses to support their nonsense.

What would Jesus do? Jesus is dead. He can't do anything. It's up to those of us who are alive to put an end to discrimination against people.

Warren's a fraud.

15. Hissyspit you are so right on there! He DOES and IS and HAS "instructed" Uganda for years!
I wrote about this as did others last year and said we could not believe that some in the media didn't take up this issue. Well now they finally are doing so.

The Global Ambition of Rick Warren

.............

For Rick Warren to profess to be a Christian in the true grace of Jesus Christ is a sin to me. I believe that people such as he are the reason that so many are turned off from Christianity because instead of Jesus loving message they hear this man and his hate filled message not only from him but his disciples who liken themselves to be like him.

20. which is why it was so incredibly wrong to have someone like him give a prayer at the inauguration.
It gave him undue influence and notoriety as being associated as one of Obama's spiritual connections/advisors, even though I pray to GOD that's not the truth by any means.

When I hear the wrath of people on DU yelling about "Christians", I know who they're referring - it's self-servers like Ricky! They'd sell out their own family to get money and power. He's a fraud and a really crappy Christian (if he even is one, which I wouldn't stake a whole lot of certainty upon!)

+1 to your post!

19. it's incredibly cowardly! I would expect him to disown Christ if it would save his own hide.
He's not very reflective of a loving god of any faith! I bet the Jewish, Islamic, and Hindu leaders all give thanks to God for him saying he's a Christian! He's a vile and shitty self-serving jerk, and I'm so glad that there's plenty of people who know about how wimpy he is about standing up for the rights of all people when he claims to follow the Prince of Peace.

+1 to your post, Hissyspit!

see that this is EXACTLY what Warren and his ilk would LOVE to see here in the US. So yes, Uganda is a place they can live out their dark fantasies. God help us should they ever gain power here.
