If we could "out" Rush Limbaugh, should we?
Assuming we could prove the story of his arrest for soliciting a man for sex in Pittsburgh in the 70s, should we?

11. Somebody needs to spend the money on a lawyer or PI in Pittsburgh
A manual records search of both arrest records and newspaper morgues is needed. There was no computerization of these records there at that time.

4. Only if he normally expresses flagrantly anti-gay viewpoints
and, of course, if there was irrefutable evidence. I don't listen to him regularly, so I wouldn't know.

5. Yes,
I believe all closet gays that make a practice of attacking the Gay community should be outed. Absolutely.

9. He's been outed as a prescription pill junkie, and what did that do?
I don't think the revelation of a "youthful indiscretion" would hurt him, either.

14. Except that I know of no allegations that he is gay or bi...
I do have personal accounts of this rumor about Limbaugh. People who were there at the time and heard the rumor when it was new told me about this. What is lacking is the documentation of the actual event, if any. But I do believe this happened.

17. I have something to say... :-)
Any story like this, if true, is able to show the world just how much self-hatred closeted anti-gay men (yeah, it's men for the most part) have.

I say go for it. In fact, if the story is true, I'd be very interested in assisting the pushing of it via blogACTIVE's lists (subscribers 5,000 and press lists, over 20,000).

In all fairness, I have to say IF (and that's a big IF) this story is true, it would be as big as, oh wait, I haven't done that story about the Senator yet ----- oooooops ;)

Please feel free to call upon me for assistance or help in any way.

On that note, must say, I love this DU board...I came over to post a story about that so called HIV super virus and found this...

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am now switching back to my PageOneQ identity which is where I am migrating my DU stuff....to post that story on the HIV super virus from Toronto's Xtra.

19. I have some problems with this
this happened 30 years ago; if there was anything to the story, don't you all think that something would have been brought to light

and why not hang him on his words and not his supposed actions--I personally don't want him associated with gay people at all

the last thing we need is to hear about all gay people are so self-loathing, they have to resort to picking up hustlers-this is the message that will get out and pushed by the right wingers

anyway, you don't think that even if Lush is brought down, another creature of darkness will rise to take his place--they're like roaches, if you see one, you know there are thousands more

20. As I say, we need to find the documentation.
Until then we have no story.

As for what happened 30 years ago... I really don't think there is any such thing as being ex-gay or ex-bisexual. And he has railed against the "Gay Agenda" consistently. If he is a closeted gay or bi person, then his comments become pure hypocrisy rather than merely vile.

22. We would have to be absolutely sure on this one.
I mean, seriously. If we did this without the proper evidence, this could seriously backfire on us and make us look like fools.

I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

Lookit. This is a no-brainer. It's merely common sense . . .

If anyone espouses hate and discontent including discrimination against others while practicing that very negative assertion, it's hypocrisy of the tallest order! Of course that person should be revealed for all to see. Pull back the "wizard of Oz's curtain" for all to see the fraud!

After all, if it's true about Limbaugh or anyone else, let the light shine in! The more "sunlight" the better. The more revealed hypocrisy the better. Show us all that hypocrisy is just what it is, a horrific falsehood played upon the ignornant.

28. In the long run, would it matter to his dittoheads?
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 01:38 AM by kweerwolf
They applauded when he advocated prison terms for drug addicts ... but yet they stood by him when his drug addictions got aired.

Come to think of it, they'd probably claim it was a set-up by that dang lib'rul media if CNN ran footage of him buggering a sheep at high noon in front of the Lincoln Memorial (and claim Rushie was a courageous ovinophile American to boot)!

Look at how many times Matt Sludge has been outed, but he remains another darling of the right.

The bottom line is that they wouldn't care where Rushie is dipping his puny, insubtantial wick as long as he keeps churning out the right-wing talking points.
