Bruce Springsteen backs gay marriage in NJ
Bruce Springsteen backs gay marriage in NJ
By The Associated Press
12.09.2009 9:07am EST

(Trenton, NJ) “The Boss” is backing gay marriage in the Garden State.

Bruce Springsteen posted a statement on his Web site urging support of the gay marriage bill that’s up for a vote in New Jersey’s Senate on Thursday.

Springsteen wrote that he’s long believed in and has “always spoken out for the rights of same-sex couples.”

The native son says he agrees with Gov. Jon Corzine that marriage equality is a civil rights issue.

Gov.-elect Chris Christie is a big Springsteen fan. The Republican has said he would veto the bill.

A state Senate committee approved the bill by one vote on Monday.

Democrats concede the measure may fall short of the 21 votes needed to pass the Senate.

1. The statement posted on Springsteen's website:
A BRIEF STATEMENT FROM BRUCE

Like many of you who live in New Jersey, I've been following the progress of the marriage-equality legislation currently being considered in Trenton. I've long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine when he writes that, "The marriage-equality issue should be recognized for what it truly is -- a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law." I couldn't agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.

9. There is so much wrong with what you're saying, I don't know where to start.
So I'll just say fuck off.

10. The ignorance in your post is absolutely astounding.
Gay marriage leads to child abuse?
Gay men have marriage rights, as long as their spouse is female?
People choose to be heterosexual or homosexual?
Homosexual behavior is "acquired" by a "monkey see monkey do attitude?"

I really don't know where to begin with this. I can point you to countless studies, facts, and life experiences that will completely and conclusively counter every single one of your "arguments," but I doubt you would be willing to listen or be educated. Why did you sign up to post this drivel?

Enjoy your stay.

There is so much wrong there, one can only screencap and laugh at you. I only pray you are not in any position of authority in real life.

Oh look, you're also a racist. What a shocker.

13. Good find.
Check out this one also. It looks like our "friend" here knows how to copy and paste. Snaps for that, I suppose.

I also forgot to mention in my reply the ridiculous assertion made by our "friend" that the push for gay rights is responsible for violence against gay people. You know, it's OUR FAULT that we get beaten up and left for dead, all because we desire to be treated equally under the law. Damn uppity gays.

12. "No one can blame a child for being a "Mongoloid" . " ? Are you sure you didn't learn this behavior?
"No one can blame a child for being a "Mongoloid" . But I am sure that the child, if he or she had been given a choice in the matter, would have opted to be born "normal." But, unlike homosexual behavior, which can be acquired "monkey see monkey do" by young impressionable children, Downs syndrome is "engraved in stone" at the time of birth."

I don't see any "evidence" to back up this assertion... and from where I'm sitting, I'm pretty sure you did learn your clearly demonstrably "Mongoloid" behavior "monkey see monkey do"... Just wondering though... did you learn it from your parents? Or maybe from some official in your church (before you "monkey see monkey do"-d your way into atheism)?

Inquiring minds want to know... :)

This member had been nuked after only a single post.

HOWEVER, the post received a half-dozen replies... and not a single alert. Not one.

Until a mod happened across it a couple of hours after it was posted and alerted.

15. I understand and hear what you're saying.
Some trolls are good at hiding their true intentions, but others don't even seem to try...like our dearly departed friend here. I would wager that everyone that replied to that post knew that it was from a user that clearly did not belong here and that their post did not reflect the mentality of DU on the whole. Sometimes, when the VERY obvious trolls reveal themselves with their first post, it's just kinda fun to poke 'em a little...you know?

Not that this excuses not alerting, but that's at least what was going through my head.

But thank you for deleting the post and nuking the user. It is much appreciated. :hi:

The first person to reply was TS'd so I figured a mod had already seen the post it was replying to.
