1. It must be a tough call for her.
She claims to be pro-gay, but she also loves her some death penalty.

:sarcasm:

3. Keep the smears out of the GLBT forum please
Hillary has done more to promote GLBT issues than 95% of washinton.

4. I'm not sure why you think it's a smear. "The family" is reportedly involved somewhat
in the ugandan situation (there's similar legislation on the table in rwanda, btw, another rick warren "purpose-driven" nation, & site of "family" connections); Clinton reportedly had more than casual dealings with "the family".

It doesn't mean she supports the legislation, but I, for one, am quite interested in the underlying power dynamics, i.e. why someone like clinton would go to such meetings, why this org is involved in africa, & why rick warren is -- with federal funding.

5. You're acting as though you're susprised that Hillary is against executing gay people
The piece you linked was written by a viciously anti-Clinton/anti-Gore author who never misses an oppertunity to slime either one of them. Hillary was in a prayer group with the wives of congressmen who were members. Like I said, keep your guilt-by-association smears out of the GLBT forum.

6. i'm acting like no such thing. i'm sure clinton doesn't favor executing gay people.
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 05:48 AM by Hannah Bell
however, the family connections have been reported in various places, & this is the first i've heard that "the nation" is an anti-clinton site.

as with various politicians' attendance at weird moonie events, there are other reasons besides belief in the cover religious angle.

and "cover" is what i believe it mostly is.

moon's org is intelligence & political; religion was the cover story to gather foot soldiers.

i think the family is something similar, & i wonder why clinton was involved.

7. Here's a great piece by the Daily Howler on Barbara Ehrenreich's anti-Clinton/Gore bullshit

It dissects her misleading article piece by piece (scroll down a tiny bit to get to the section on her)

20. Me too.
And I'm gay. Clinton's better than Obama on LGBT issues, but I don't trust her as far as I can throw her.

12. Excuse me, I indicated no such thing, in fact, I specifically stated I was
sure ms clinton did not support such legislation.

you're so heavily invested in your own drama, apparently, that you've either lost your ability to read properly, or are willing to deliberately misrepresent other people's words.

i have no interest whatsoever in your factional bullshit dramas. clinton/obama/edwards/etc = birds of a feather so far as i'm concerned.

i'm interested in why orgs like "the family" are helping to make policy in dc & africa & why people like clinton seem to feel it necessary to pay them some deference.

15. "done more to promote GLBT issues than 95% of washinton"
Oh, really? Is that the same Hillary Clinton who said that gay rights were a state issue, and that no state should have to recognize gays as equals?

She's no better than Obama on gay issues. They both suck.

10. concern,concern,concern......
the united states is always "concerned" about africa but does`t have the will or the power to change anything.

21. This just in: Oil secretions of LGBTs easily converts to energy!
Aw crap, now we all have to report to the Halliburton Heat Lamp Concentration Camp. Obama says he'll rescue us just as soon as his GayOil stocks mature. Then he'll have enough to buy military tanks that run on GayOil and then he'll break us out of the camps with those.

11. I'm glad that she made this statement.
I hope that she will use her connections and influence to encourage more religious and political leaders to speak out.
