Considering the compromises we've seen with health care, climate |
|
change and the total giveaway to the banksters - maybe we're better off with this administration forgetting their promises to us during the campaign.
Just like Health Care Reform started being spoken about as Health Insurance reform - I've noticed the change from Repealing DADT to "changing DADT" - and I have no clue as to how any "change" short of full repeal isn't going to be a slap in the face. Partial bigotry would somehow be ok?
With all the willingness to split the baby in half, the administrative solution to DOMA is simple enough to figure out. Repeal it for the lesbian couples only since the Bible never mentions them and rather than ick out the straight guys, it seems to be a bit of a turn on. Everyone partially happy, partially disappointed - bipartisanship at it's finest.

1. Indeed. Action From Obama On Our Issues May Very Well Be Worse Than No Action. |
|
Healthcare reform is something he presumably actually cares about, and he fucked that up royally. I shudder to think what he'd do if he got involved in equal rights causes, which he never gave a shit about.

7. Ayup. Get ready for 2010 to be a 2006 redux. |
|
Now that we (supposedly) have Congressional majorities in both chambers, we can't focus on teh gays' "pet issues" right now. We'll get to it in 2011, we promise, just keep voting for us and sending in that $$$ so we can keep working for you. Because if the Republicans get control of Congress, well, nothing will get done.
And countless DUers will join in that chorus demanding that we STFU and not "ruin" the Dems' chances in 2010.
Count on it.

6. Yeah, but it "icks out" the straight women. |
|
And it "icks out" the straight guys too--especially if a masculine woman is with a feminine woman (one of "theirs"). And frankly, having straight guys try to fuck you and your long-term partner is pretty fucking gross on its own.

|
not to worry their pretty little heads about it, after all, it's up to the menfolk to decide what is and isn't proper.
