WasProp8Straight.org -- New Site hosts Election Integrity study
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 01:10 AM by emlev
Just launched tonight! WasProp8Straight.org

From the home page:
New Study Shows Proposition 8 Vote Count
Appears To Have Been Corrupted!
Californians may have been stripped of equal marriage rights as a result of
faulty or even fraudulent election results!
Election Watchdogs and GLBT Rights Groups Call For Investigation!

Note: Voters polled in this exit poll were not asked to tell anybody how they voted!
Each voter marked her/hisresponses on an anonymous form and dropped it into a locked collection box!

What's It All About?
A new analysis of independent exit polls conducted in L.A. County at the November 2008 election indicates significant likelihood that the official vote counts are incorrect. It is indeed possible that the California state constitution was amended to strip marriage rights of some of the state's people as a result of vote counts that were incorrect and possibly even fraudulent.

The polling was conducted by election integrity group Protect California Ballots in conjunction with Election Defense Alliance and ElectionIntegrity.org. Analysis of the poll results performed by Richard Hayes Phillips, Ph.D., best known for his investigation of the 2004 presidential election in Ohio, was recently completed.

The exit poll methodology used, called an Election Verification Exit Poll (EVEP) is different from the typical exit poll. While the better-known polls conducted by such organizations as Edison-Mitofsky are used to predict election results for the entire area voting on a particular office or ballot question, EVEP is used exclusively to measure the accuracy of the vote counts in the specific locations where the polls are conducted. See the FAQ page and the study itself for more information about the EVEP methodology.

As the introduction to the study says,
"This report is meant as a warning."
The exit poll results alone are not sufficient to prove fraud. The results are strong enough, however, to justify a meticulous investigation into whether or not the votes were counted properly in L.A. county and beyond.

We invite you to join us in calling for that investigation to begin immediately.

Actions listed at the site.

2. Recco #5
Please tell us what this investigation should look like. How will it be any more credible than the election in the first place when that was conducted using equipment that provided unverifiable results, that is, an outcome that could never really be known with certainty?

3. Rule number one: use actual eyes to count votes
The only reason an investigation is even possible is because in California there is a paper record of every vote. The investigation has to start, though with examining the chain of custody of the ballots and other election materials. If that can't be clearly established to be intact, counting the ballots could be worse than meaningless and instead the security problems must be addressed and people held accountable. The investigation should include public observers. A significant number of precincts should be selected for hand counting, but *not* the precincts where the poll was conducted, because the identity of those precincts is known and therefore the ballots there are more likely to have been tampered with.

Of course, if the election was manipulated by outsiders (hackers), they might not have access to tamper with the ballots as well. But manipulation by insiders is a possibility that must not be overlooked.

4. Thank you! Once the mindset of "count every vote FAIRLY" is applied,
the situation--and course of action--are obvious.

5. Good rule
Certainly actual eyes, and human hands, counting paper ballots on the night of the election is a rule I support. What do you hope it will accomplish at this time with ballots from an old election of dubious conduct? Can you share anything about the strategy? What does a win here look like?

6. This better not be true.
This would mean that someone (or several people) have been deliberately stripping rights from people by bypassing the electoral process. And while I am usually reserved to dubb something fascist, stripping civil rights while the electoral process is bypassed is exactly that: fascist.

May God forgive those who did this, for this alone would be enough to damn their souls to hell.

It deserves the support of all believers in democracy.

On edit: Am going to the site now to see if there is something I can do to.
