I just heard a reference on my local news about the GLBTQ community. I think I know what "Q" stands for but wondering if someone could confirm it for me.
Thanks in advance.

2. sort of like people who are curious, and as said above me, questioning/queer |
|
meaning, you think you're queer in some manner, or you are questioning what you feel inside, and are trying to figure yourself out. Youths may affiliate with the Q in GLBTQ often, I would think.

13. Yep. My young nephews who both have girlfriends |
|
and who are both sexually active identify as "queer" (bisexual to them) - until something better comes along. It's all very confusing for me - until I remember my teens where anything with at least one hole and one leg was good enough.
Talk about opportunists. :P

I thought it would be for Queen. I know guys that like to dress up but are straight and wouldn't fit into transgender or would they?

Quaker here. ;) Not gay, but questioning. I've never had anyone connect us in this way. However here in California Quaker Meetings for Worship are performing same sex marriages for their members against state law. The members get the marriages that mean a lot to them, the rest of us can offer out support and good wishes and the law will catch up some day, I'm sure. In the meantime it is nice to know that you are thinking of us.
Peace

8. LOL...this is why I love DU. |

Leave it to me to meet an actual questioning Quaker. ;)
It's awesome to know they're doing same sex marriages. If only the other churches could see the light on this.

9. Yeah, I was kind of tickled too... |

The picture of our married couple was in our bulletin. At the time I wished I had a way to post it here, but I didn't have an internet account to let me post photos. They were grinning big happy smiles and wearing matching rose boutonnieres.
I looked at the picture and wondered why society conspires to make moments like this so damned hard. It should be as easy as going to city hall to get the license and picking the church to be married in.
Quakers believe that everyone is equal in God's eyes. All races, cultures, religions and genders. We believe that everyone has a piece of the truth but no one has the whole truth. That is why we are not evangelical. Our truth is only one part of everything. We also believe that the love people have for each other is the most important thing. Not who you love, but that you have love in the first place.
Take care, it was fun posting with you, and I could not resist the opportunity.:hi:

10. yes, I was gonna say, hey, the Quakers are pro-Gay, but how about that, a Quaker |
|
who affiliates with the Q in GLBTQ comes on the board! I'm glad the Quakers get it, God bless us all, everyone.

14. A questioning Quaker is typically referred to as a Q-squared (or "Q2"; "Q-tee" in the south). |

They are responsible for the "Oath in Lieu of Swearing" (the so-called Quaker Oath) in courts of law. It has saved many an unbeliever from the insidious choice of dishonestly swearing to a non-existent god or facing contempt charges.

19. One of my sons is in HS and queer. He has some long string of letters |
|
for one of his girlfriends. She is a whole bunch of things. I just laugh when he says it all in a single breath mono-syllable like a really long word.
