I actually used his letter in the second book to come out to the group of people I got a master's degree with.

3. "Tales" really helped me feel less alone when I was coming out
and it wasn't a friendly, helpful, hopeful coming out process, either. Not in the least.

These books helped me figure out I wasn't alone, even though it seemed like it. That helped. Not much, in light of everything else, but it did help.

4. That is great!
The books got me through eight miserable years in hicksville - I've read them so many times I don't even chuckle anymore (for the first five or six readings they supplied frequent shouts of laughter), but I still reread them from time to time anyway, which shows you how good the stories and characters are.

The bar she is in at the begining is the Buena Vista Cafe, the best Irish Coffee! Makes me remember where I left my heart.
