1. Good Luck, I hope it goes well and your project gets good attention. |

When I was in school oh so long ago those of us who were 'suspect' were harassed and bullied. Some good changes in the mean time. Then again there are still too many who are bullied.

I got myself in trouble too many times for trying to educate about 'real issues' in the schools. Good for you!!

11. Thanks folks. The good vibes are doing their thing. |

So far. The board is up. For about 24 hrs. It has not been defaced. Yet. (Nor have I, more significantly).
Not much overt reaction . A couple of cautious compliments. One from a conservative colleague, surprisingly. The kids seem oblivious. It may be over their heads, truth be told.
May have helped that this is "Respect for All" week , whatever that means, in this district. Or maybe it's just "shock and awe".
"Time will undoubtedly tell." ( 5 extra points; id the film.)
Took some pics and may post them here if I can figure out how.
Here's what I did: hijacked this breathtaking quote from lambda .org , blew it up, centered it and the rest of the board riffed on this theme:
>>>>>>>"Within the typical secondary school curriculum, homosexuals do not exist. They are 'nonpersons' in the finest Stalinist sense. They have fought no battles, held no offices, explored nowhere, written no literature, built nothing, invented nothing and solved no equations. The lesson to the heterosexual student is abundantly clear: homosexuals do nothing of consequence. To the homosexual student, the message has even greater power: no one who has ever felt as you do has done anything worth mentioning." -Gerald Unks, editor, The Gay Teen, p. 5.>>>>>>>>
Love that passage. Been waiting around for a chance to put it to use.
Thanks again.
