Smuckers, IMG want skater Johnny Weir kept off 'Stars on Ice' tour

"GLAAD has learned from a source that wishes to remain anonymous that sponsors of the Stars on Ice Tour, which include Smuckers and IMG Entertainment, have refused to allow 3-time US National Champion and 2-time Olympian Johnny Weir to participate because they claim that he is “not family friendly.”

"To say that Weir is “not family friendly” would be a clear jab at his perceived sexual orientation. Weir is extremely involved with his family. He is putting his younger brother through college, and supports the family financially because his father’s disability prohibits him from working."

Story: http://glaadblog.org/2010/03/11/johnny-weir-deemed-not-family-friendly-enough-to-perform-in-stars-on-ice-tour/

7. Haven't you heard? The corporations have told the media that it is alright

for us to consume high-fructose corn syrup again.

In fact it is just as good as sugar is but for half the price!

25. Slight bummer since I use these brands , but only at holiday time
for cooking all those holiday pies etc ,Crisco, Pillsbury, Eagle Brand, Borden and Elsie design, Martha White.

I use Robin Hood more often to make bread, looks like I will have to start going over to www.oldmillofguilford.com/ (Oak Ridge, NC) more often. I get my corn meal from them (I did not explore I go over once a year and buy a couple of 10 lb bags of corn flour and a couple bags of grits/polenta.
We use Folgers on a fairly regular basis.

We have been shifting to no hfcs and from processed foods to more whole foods. We have a garden, I try to buy all else that I can from local farmers.

We have 1/2 acre of blackberry vines so I make my own black berry jam, jelly and syrups with regular sugar, if i could figure out some other way than white sugar to make them, honey just does not work the same and that is the sweetener I use most since our neighbors dad is a beekeeper.

6. He should have gotten the bronze.
He skated beautifully and did not fall, like a couple of skaters who ended up higher than him did.

those companies.

I suppose I have a reason to keep boycotting them both though.

19. Smuckers Brand flavored High Fructose Corn Syrup is easy
to boycott. And here comes the home jam making season, never a better reason to grow what you can, and can what you grow! Food not bigots!
More intolerance from Team Taliban, American Branch.

24. Can the the figure skating community afford to snub gays?
Speaking for myself, figure skating is my favorite Olympic sport. I paid to see the Stars on Ice four years ago, but I won't if they allow bigotry.

26. Ummmm.....
If Smucker's is so homophobic, why would they sponsor a figure skating event in the firs place?

Also, they started offering domestic partner benefits for same-sex couples in 2010. That doesn't seem very homophobic to me.
