MS Safe Schools is having a "Second Chance Prom". Got this today:
MSSC Now Accepting Registrations for Second Chance Prom

The Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition is excited to announce that the registration form for Second Chance Prom is now available online. Any Mississippi youth or student between the ages of 15 and 23 are welcome to register. Youth and Students can access the registration form at:

Anyone interested in volunteering may express interest at:

http://www.mssafeschools.org/vol-registration.php

Second Chance Prom will be held May 8th at the Bancorp South Arena in Tupelo, MS. The event will last from 5pm until 11pm. There is no cost to attendees.

Space is limited so Register NOW! We will send a confirmation email to let you know that your space has been reserved. (NOTE: You will not receive the confirmation email immediately.)

1. That's great for the other kids
but for Constance McMillien the damage is probably already done. Her classmates made a resounding statement that they did not want her company, and the emotional damage from that may last her a lifetime.

2. You may be right. One of the missions of this org is to support gay kids.
And their prom was planned before that school chose to be a massively ugly.

(I should have just put this in foxfeet's thread but was reading too fast, sorry.)

5. Already had the prom
So, this is another prom or dance? I was just reading where there were already two dances or proms for Itawamba students. Many schools down here gave up on proms years ago. I do know several who still seem to be doing it, though. I never recalled our faculty and administration knowing who would be attending the prom with us. Heck, some of us didn't know until the last minute. So much of it doesn't seem to make any sense.

6. This is a different event put together by MS Safe Schools on May 8.
I talked to them a few weeks ago. They sound young and pretty hip. :)
