Gay Publications Under Attack Nationally
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/09/090105books.htm

Social conservatives are waging a war throughout the country to have LGBT books an periodicals removed from the shelves of public libraries.
In the latest instance several dozen people demanded that a suburban Columbus library remove two gay publications - Outlook Weekly and Gay People's Chronicle.

"Ours is a community of high standards and values," said Bruce Cameron, a 33-year resident of Upper Arlington. "The materials are lewd, salacious, lascivious - and a bunch of other big words of legal significance - but in normal parlance, disgusting, obscene and pornographic."

granted-some of the fag rags carry personal ads but over-all, they're newspapers

1. I have mixed feelings on this ...
... on the one hand, I hate censorship - especially coming form jerk-offs who talk about their "high standards and values." But when I look at some of the bar, phone sex lines, etc., ads in most gay publications, I really hate what they say about our "community." I know that back in the bad old days, the only advertisers most gay publications could get were bars and sex-related ads ... but to pick up a gay publication today would only reinforce the stereotype the fundies have about how "sex obsessed" we are.

2. I know and unfortunately these bar rags are free
and really can't discriminate on the advertisers

I wouldn't mind paying a subscription to a couple of them

3. I know what you mean
because i see a lot of stuff in those queer rags that would make the Editing and Legal Department at TSR/WOTC(the guys who made the DragonLance saga) as pale as ghosts.
