Lou Engle and other Christian Rightists going to Uganda to try to revive 'Kill the Gays' bill
Just when it seemed that the 'Kill the Gays' bill had been put on the back burner by Ugandan lawmakers, a new threat looms on the horizon from American anti-gay and anti-abortion extremist Lou Engle of TheCall Ministries who, with the endorsement of several of Uganda's local religious figures, has organized a rally event in Kampala for Sunday, May 2, that, according to the website, aims to specifically target "homosexuality and increased immorality" along with "the decay of morals and infrastructure" as "challenges" that need to be tackled alongside "witchcraft" and "human sacrifice."

From the Human Rights Campaign's action alert:

"Right wing fundamentalists are once again exporting hate and intolerance masked as religion to Uganda. The Call Uganda, led and fueled by American fundamentalist Lou Engle, is an anti-gay stadium event and all-day rally, scheduled for May 2nd in Kampala, Uganda. Faith leaders, including HRC’s Religion and Faith Program, have joined together to insist that we will not stand for the continual exportation of violence and hatred by fundamentalist preachers. Enough is enough. These incendiary actions, led by Lou Engle and others, put LGBT people, their families and allies in fear of their lives."

8. yeah, and again I ask, where oh where is our secretary of state?
I used to be a Hillary supporter but now I'm starting to think she's really part of the problem. Without exception on every single atrocity we've seen involving the government sanctioned murder of gays abroad in third world banana peel republics, her department administration has been silent.

She is every bit as guilty of being an accomplice, by mere fact of silence.

10. Why should they speak out?
The brutal killing of innocents in the name of organized religion is a problem as old as humanity itself, and Christianity is certainly no exception. It seems to me that the Christians who are stoking the anti-gay fervor in Uganda, as well as those Christians who sit back in complicity and allow it to happen (through ignorance or otherwise), are only continuing Christianity's fine tradition of extermination and conversion of those they consider to be "others."

You pose the question why the "true Christians" aren't speaking out, but I contend that the members of both camps are true Christians and are simply following in the tradition that those of their faith have followed for the last two millenia.

Fresh Uganda oil find ‘Africa’s biggest’

Heritage Oil announced details of a large oil discovery in Uganda yesterday, which the company claimed could be the largest onshore discovery in sub-Saharan Africa.

Heritage said that its latest discovery – Giraffe1 – in the Lake Albert region, could total at least 400 million barrels of oil.

However, Paul Atherton, chief financial officer, told The Times that the wider field it was developing, dubbed Buffalo-Giraffe, had several “billions of barrels of oil in place”, although it was unclear how much of this would be recoverable.

He said that the field, which is 9,000 square kilometers in size – or six times the size of Greater London – was unquestionably the largest onshore discovery made in sub-Saharan Africa in at least 20 years, possibly ever.

Just don't let them back into the United States again. Once they're over there, cancel their passports.

7. Isn't There...
some way to haul bastards like this for inciting to murder? Oh, I forgot--his precious right to free speech. I am so sick of this crap." The Supreme Court has rulled that the free speech protection does not extent to things such as yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theatre. Why should incitement to murder be tolerated.

I do agree though. Let the bastard go to Kampala and pull his passport. Someone like him deserves to be a "man without a country.
