Looking for LGBT-specific fiction research sources (England, mid 20th century)
I've been challenged to write a short story from the point of view of L-O-L-A Lola, from the Kinks song, and I really want to do a good job, so I want to research it hard. Can anyone recommend good books or web sites pertaining to MtF transwomen or drag queens (and/or general queer culture) in England from about 1940-1970? I'm not looking for Trans 101, I'm looking for someone who knows good books about what that experience was like in that specific place and time (slang, etc.)

Thanks!
