Hustling Haggard: 'Cured' of the Gay, the Disgraced Preacher Sets up New Church

Similar to the way the Little Engine that Could huffed and puffed and was able to pull a long train over the mountain, disgraced preacher Ted Haggard has his little engine huffing and puffing these days. After accompanying his wife Gayle on a successful book tour earlier this year promoting her tell-some book Why I Stayed: My Choice to Love, Hope, and Forgive -- (co-written with Angela Hunt) and setting up a prayer shop in their Colorado Springs, Colorado home, the Haggards' have decided to continue their climb down from scandal mountain by starting up their own full-fledged church.

With Ted Haggard now "cured" of the gay and, by his own testimony, not having "had one compulsive thought or behavior" since he began therapy, Ted and Gayle Haggard recently took a bold step and "incorporated to become a church," the Colorado Spring Gazette reported. "Becoming St. James Church brings with it a tax structure that helps 'keep the accounting in order,' said Ted; the couple has been giving paid talks at U.S. churches for the past 18 months."

The church appears to be named after the passage "faith without works is dead" in the Book of James.

"I'm not surprised that Haggard is trying to return to the ministry," longtime Religious Right watcher Rob Boston told BuzzFlash in an e-mail. "He's really not qualified to do anything else."

4. Well, of course, he's back. He now has a new message to bring

and a new way to collect money from his flock. He'll turn his "cure" into a real money-maker, doncha know. There are people out there who want to believe that he can do the same for them or their loved ones and they will pay him big bucks for his "cure".

teen girls and boys, subjecting them to belittling classes and telling them that what they are feeling is a sin unto God...


Think how many of these facilities are all over the USA 'preaching' this evil shit...


I know a few "prayer is helping me reject these thoughts" ashamed to be who they are types. There's not much you can do when someone chooses to self-hate who God made them. I know society doesn't help the matter - the amount of Gay-HATE in this country is amazingly high. Just go and read an open news board about a celeb who comes out Gay, Gay rights/marriage, or something along that line. Hundreds of people will post within an hour decrying Gays as an affront to decency and God.

his late 40's. when paying i would assume most would chose younger.
