'Survivor' Winner Indicted on Tax Charges
Richard Hatch, who won $1 million on the first season of the reality show "Survivor," was indicted Thursday for failing to pay taxes on his winnings from the CBS show.

Hatch faces 10 charges, including tax evasion, filing a false tax return, wire fraud, bank fraud and mail fraud. U.S. Attorney Robert Clark Corrente said Hatch, 44, did not pay taxes on his "Survivor" prize, income from a radio show and rental income. The Newport resident also allegedly used donations to his charity, Horizon Bound, to cover personal expenses.

Prosecutors charged Hatch with two counts of tax evasion in January. He agreed to plead guilty, but backed out of the deal in March, saying he thought CBS was responsible for paying the taxes on his prize. CBS has said Hatch was well aware of his obligations to pay taxes on the money.

Well, d'uh! Guess he figured he didn't need to report the 'suvivor' prize since no one was watching the show. ... Sheesh! What a maroon! Anyone know if Hatch is a member of the Log Cabin Republicans?

4. He's always in some sort of trouble, isn't he?
What was the story about his son (!), he made him do a lot of really tough exercise in the sun to lose weight. I think the kid ended up in the hospital. Anybody have details on that? My Google skills let me down sometimes.

5. Here's what I found on a quick search ...
Hatch, 39, filed the suit in July, claiming his civil rights violated when the state removed his 10-year-old adopted son, Christopher, from Hatch's home after the boy claimed he was roughed up by the Survivor champ during an early morning jog. Hatch also accused the state of traumatizing his son by taking him away for a month.

U.S. District Judge Ernest C. Torres said Hatch, who was not in court for the hearing, presented insufficient evidence to support his claim. He ruled that officials acted reasonably when they took Hatch's son because the boy had told the same story to a half-dozen different people and a doctor found there was physical evidence consistent with Chris' charge that his father abused him.

Just two days after his triumphant return from Pulau Tiga, Hatch allegedly forced the boy to go jogging at 4:30 a.m., and then roughed him up when he disobeyed an order to keep going. The Army veteran was reportedly upset his son--who had been staying with relatives during his 39-day island adventure--gained weight while he was gone.

The gay corporate trainer was arrested on a child-abuse charge. It was later dropped.

6. You're better than me, kweerwolf!
I must have been mixing that story with some completely unrelated story. But yeah, that's the one I was talking about.
