Major: Sexuality did not worry patients, unit


Margaret Witt and her partner, Laurie McChesney, pose for a photo outside the federal courthouse in Tacoma, Wash. Witt is suing the Air Force in federal court and seeking reinstatement following her "don't ask-don't tell" dismissal. Witt was discharged in 2007 after serving for 19 years.

TACOMA, Wash. — A decorated Air Force Reserve flight nurse discharged for being gay took the witness stand at her federal trial Monday and told the judge it “kills me” not to be able to care for wounded soldiers while the country is at war.
