Did Reid screw up today
should he have gone about putting DADT to a vote in another way?

1. I heard a guy on Tweety blame Reid, but then Rachel said that the argument
from the R's that Reid wouldn't allow any Republican additions was BS, and she showed a clip of him saying something that essentially said let's just get this up for debate then tweak it. I think she's more accurate than just about anybody, so I'll believe her, which means the Republican spin on this is already being bought by the media and us.

Don't know if that's what you were referring to by "another way", but just thought I'd pass along what she said. There's probably a clip of it on her site.

2. I don't think it even got as far as a vote.
This was to allow it to proceed to discussion.

7. How could it have passed?
Isn't this what people have been trying to tell you? The Votes Aren't There. What could Reid have done to satisfy you??

9. This Was A Vote For Cloture
Not even a vote on the bill. He and the WH should've worked the room till they were sure they could bring the bill to a vote

11. The Votes Weren't There
There is no "working the room". Don't you think it would have been done by now if it were possible?

4. Depends how you look at it.

You could say limitations or failure in the system creates other less then best results.

Either way it will work out for the best, there are some other effects from the vote in different areas that work out for better results.

Either way it will work out, some might be sad over the vote, but to be honest.

You have to understand the Right Wing, they are afraid of things like Sharia law not because of the concept of a theological state, but because they support ideas of their interpretation of ideology as a state rule.

It is sharia law from a different side.

And both Sharia law and other social legislation put into law, are using coercion for faith instead of teachings and the spirit of love.

Reid did the right thing, I think. it is a post election issue, not an issue a month before an election, it should be voted on for reasons of what is best, not as an election tool.

But some people are sad, the cloud in an earlier video is even sad. although Patients is a good thing also, so been playing love songs.

Although some people are sad, and that is sad...

So posted this song.

6. Clearly his attempt didn't work. But it's not clear what alternative he had.
The most compelling one would have been an earlier vote, but timing flexibility has been limited in the Senate due to Republican obstruction and the economy.

8. No, he did it right. Republicans filibustered...holding human rights hostage for politics.
The fact that the filibustered a National defense bill shows what they will do.

DADT will not come up for a vote outside the defense authorization bill...and they would rather filibuster a bill that totally invalidates their claim to national defense and caring for the troops rather than allow DADT to be repealed.

So if not now, when will Republicans be more likely to vote for this?

10. No. He took this where it should have gone. It's not over.
The Republicans never wanted this day to come. That's why their rhetoric was so hypocritical. The American People want DADT overturned. It will be.

I take great heart in that 57 (Reid's vote keeps this alive) Senators voted on record to kill DADT. That is historic and shows the tide is with us.

Forcing this was brilliant. And I salute Reid for doing this.
