Religious Right Figure Freaks Out Because the UN Wants to Stop Persecution of Gays
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 03:17 PM by Ian David
In a hysterical screed published by the American Family Association’s One News Now, Matt Barber of the right-wing Liberty Counsel sets his aim at the United Nations:

The United Nations is pressing for acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle worldwide, which was made evident during a recent human rights meeting in Geneva.

A written statement from Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on U.N. members to abolish laws that discriminate against homosexuals. The statement comes two months after a homosexual activist group received U.N. accreditation.

“The United Nations just continues to spiral further and further down into the abyss of irrelevancy,” laments Matt Barber, director of cultural affairs at Liberty Counsel. “Their radical, leftist, post-modern secular humanist, globalist agenda is just as clear as it has ever been.”

1. I didn't think it was possible for the RW to freak out about the UN more than they already have.
The UN is, after all, an evil organization bent on world domination, isn't it?
:sarcasm:

I am happy to see a push for LGBT acceptance on the international front.

3. +2
My partner's from WV and I'm from the NC mountains. We don't appreciate strangers showing up trying to tell us how to mind our business by not minding theirs.

6. We're a comfortable, happy sort of folks
HillbillyBob and Imet many a mile from the mountains but it was instant click. (Ok, the full-moon athletic glutes got my attention first  ) We both grew up gay and country, love the mountains. We loved living The Life in the city, but when it was time to come home and get back to the land, it was our winning move. Nine acres, four dawgs (plus one we're fostering), only one neighbor family whom we adore. There's a boy scout reservation on one side and the gamelands on the other. There are deer and turkeys in the bottomland, beavers in the creek.

We get up that way every once in a blue moon. If y'all are ever this way, PM us. I bet we have stories  :hi:

5. Glad to hear the UN is stepping up, lets hope nations follow their lead
I must say though that the opposition by those radical right wingers of the UN disturbs me, it's as if they want us all to keep on declaring war and fighting other nations and it's a bad thing for us to work together.
