Carl Paladino: Children Shouldn't Be Brainwashed Into Homosexuality
Carl Paladino: Children Shouldn't Be Brainwashed Into Homosexuality

Teabagger lunatic and New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Carl "Imprison The Poor" Paladino today said, "I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don't want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option--it isn't. There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual. That is not how God created us."

Paladino was touring Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn where he made the remark, also saying to at least one group that he would veto a same-sex marriage bill as governor. A spokesman for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Paladino's opponent, immediately fired out this reaction: "Mr. Paladino's statement displays a stunning homophobia and a glaring disregard for basic equality. These comments along with other views he has espoused make it clear that he is way out of the mainstream and is unfit to represent New York."

2. What an ignoramus!
"Mankind will not be free until the last tyrant is hanged with the entrails of the last priest" seems to be the truest sentiment ever uttered.

I can think of nothing but religion that is capable of propagating so much ignorance among the ruling class and would-be ruling class.

He's just got a stunning lack of understanding that gays are born, not made, and that it's never a choice except among bisexuals.

3. He's trying to peddle this line among the Orthodox?
Seriously?

The ONE strict religious group in the US with a live-and-let-live attitude about homosexuality?

6. What they really mean by brainwashing
Is having a situation where gay, lesbian, and bisexual kids in school don't hate themselves and have some sort of recourse when other folks make their lives living hells. The corollary of teaching people that being queer is a normal thing is that it's not as easy to beat up on other kids anymore without any sort of response. The attitude of teachers and a school board towards homosexuality impacts real people in schools and not just the ideology of the kids being taught this.

8. My response-
http://vixenstrangelymakesuncommonsense.blogspot.com/2010/10/carl-paladino-still-loathsome-now-with.html

So, people paying attention to the Republican candidate for Governor of the state of New York already know he is fine with the "N-Word", sexism, pictures of bestiality, and despite his own peccadilloes, seems to have a case of "prowess-envy" where Andrew Cuomo is concerned.

In other words, he's already a horrible joke perpetrated on the voters of a state that deserves far, far better. (But let us not forget--he is endorsed by Newt Gingrich!)

Of course, since he's been portrayed as so very "anti", homophobia shouldn't surprise us. Of course. That he's just so, so, what's the word? Comfortable. He's so comfortable being a virulent homophobe is the thing that annoys me here:

The Republican candidate for governor, Carl P. Paladino, told a gathering in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Sunday that children should not be “brainwashed” into thinking that homosexuality was acceptable, and criticized his opponent, Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, for marching in a gay pride parade earlier this year.

“That’s not how God created us,” he said, reading from a prepared address. “I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option — it isn’t.”

And then, to applause at Congregation Shaarei Chaim, he said: “I didn’t march in the gay parade this year — the gay pride parade this year. My opponent did, and that’s not the example we should be showing our children.” Newsday.com report that Mr. Paladino’s prepared text had included the sentence: “There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.” But Mr. Paladino omitted the sentence in his speech.

Not acceptable, and not valid? Not this way by nature?

Fuck you, Carl Paladino. If it could be changed, why are our young people killing themselves because of the way they are being judged--if it was a choice, why wouldn't they just turn off the same-sex attraction like a switch? And if gay young folks were "brainwashed" into thinking gay was okay--why don't they brazen it out on the basis of their so-called "brainwashing"?

Carl Paladino is a hater. He's a public hater, and he hates all kind of people. He hates Muslims. He hates people of different ethnicity. He is no friend of women. And he is altogether okay with publically hating gay people.

We live in a world where this shit happens.

We live in a world where this shit happens.

http://abcnews.go.com/ad/gmaintroad.html?goback=http://abcnews.go.com/US/victim-secret-dorm-sex-tape-commits-suicide/story?id=11758716

We live in a world where what happens every day is that LGBT people face discrimination while trying to lead normal lives. The weirdos, the people who aren't right, the people who are going out of their way to be hateful and bigoted--are the people like Carl Paladino. Like the folks at NOM and NARTH and AFA and FOTF. The people who encourage hate and come up with reasons for being hateful--those are the fuck-ups. The people who push pseudoscience instead of understanding. The people who are comfortable with hate and peer-abuse and dehumanization.

Who exactly is brainwashed when people who think they have a religion of love and peace are ready to beat the shit out of others? Who is brainwashed when the religion of the survivors of discrimination applaud discrimination of others? Who is brainwashed into seeing people based on their orientation, and not the simple, human things they ask for that we could so easily understand--

Not to be harassed. To have committed monogamous relationships. To raise children, to serve their country. To even be clergy in various creeds. How square! How normal!

The things gay folks want to do are--why, perfectly normal things!

The people who want to hate them? What do they want, really?

Who is really the weirdo here?

Damn, this sort of thing makes my heart hurt. But all things considered, I have hosed more evolved life-forms than Carl Paladino off a trash-can lid. And that is my considered opinion on the matter, edited to be no more insulting and dehumanizing than he would treat anyone else himself.

9. You know when a GLBT person is dysfunctional?
When the gay man marries a woman he cannot love and honor.

When the lesbian woman raises a family she will eventually have to break up to save her integrity.

When a bisexual person is forced into a different sex relationship, when his/ her heart says it would be happier entwined with a special same sex someone.

When a transgender person is kept in limbo because no-one understands (s)he is not happy in a body that doesn't match his/ her soul.

When same sex couples are denied legal recognition of their marriages (they are married, at least in their hearts; where it matters) they do not become dysfunctional. But the church doing the denying may be very dysfunctional indead.

When a same sex couple raises happy and healthy children in spite of the instability their legal inequality creates, it speaks for how functional their strong relationship is.

Think of those poor GLBT youngsters who were brainwashed into thinking their life was not worth living.

How misguided some of my fellow Christians are. When did God ever abandon His creation? How could He possibly design for His children to deny their own souls?

Mr Cuomo was right in denouncing these horrid remarks.

By the way: isn't it telling that the blasphemous Paladino mentions his own children before he mentions ours?
"I just think my children and your children would be much better off "

And one last thing: Homosexuality is not "a valid and equal option", Mr Paladino. As any of my GLBT friends will tell you, it is just valid and equal: there is no option. The only choice they had was to be honest with themselves, or to start living a lie. The sexuality itself was a given.

11. "My children" You mean the kids you had with women not your wife?
THOSE children? You want for them a world where it's unacceptable to be gay, but it's okay for a candidate to high office to pass around videos of a woman being sodomized by a horse?

What a fuckstick.

13. You want to know the funny thing?
My family and friend have talked a lot about Buffalo's economic crisis because, like Paladino, we all were born and raised there.

We have all laughingly come to the same conclusion: Buffalo should start offering incentives for the LGBT community to move there, establish businesses, renovate property, and make the town interesting and creative. It's no accident that the most prosperous American cities have large gay populations. A gayer Buffalo would be a city more open to innovation and the ingenious use of its natural resources. It would be less gray, more cosmopolitan and a better potential host for companies looking for cheap infrastructure with cultural perks.

Again, we always laugh about this, but we kind of wish this scenario would happen someday.

15. My child IS gay
So what? She also has brown eyes and hair, unlike her blue eyed, blonde, straight sister. Again, big deal. They are both my children and equal under my eyes, and as AMERICAN CITIZENS so they should be.

Blame MY PARENTS, not 12 years of catholic schools, for "brainwashing" me into thinking ALL people are, and SHOULD BE, equal.
